Tires swapping AG tires for R-4 tires

Since you are new to tractors, I would be interested to know why you are switching. It might or might not be worth the cost involved depending on your location and intended uses.

I know that was not the question, but just wondering.

Why decrease your tractors capability by going to the R4's?

If less lawn damage is why, get a set of turfs and keep the ags to have both.

I feel your pain. I bought a BX1850 new that had ags. Thought they would be ok, but they really tore up the lawn for mowing. Cost me about 500 bucks to put on industrial tires with a credit on my nearly new ags. Unless you plan to do mostly ground engagement with PTO implements, ag tires are a bust. There is a reason industrial tires are so popular.

Depends on what you are doing. In my case, Ags would decrease my tractors capability. Each type of tire has their pros and cons.

I would LOVE the traction of Ags, however I need the thorn resistance and weight rating of the R4s. Last time I looked, the front R1s weight rating didn't leave much room for loader work. The combined weight rating of the two front R1 tires barely covered the weight of the tractor and loader.

Ideally I would have both, but I have neither the room to store a spare set nor do I have the extra money to blow on a second set.

This winter I will see how bad the R4s work. I hear they suck in snow.
