IRS on an ATV will work just as well as a solid for the amount most ATVs can hail. My Rincon can haul just as much or more as a solid rear axle Rubicon or Foreman.
Solid rear axle is only advantagous when it comes to cornering, it allows the rear to break away better around sharp corners and thats why it is preferred among racing quads.
I had a Forman 450es and allthough it was built like a tank, could not haul as much weight as my Rincon.
The IRS is more comfortable and will allow you to ride longer without having to take breaks.
Typical ATVs only way about 600-700 punds so the tongue weight will remain about the same-plus or minus about 40 pounds. Not enough to make a difference.
