Rich, I suppose all the tractor manuals say to pull from the swinging drawbar, instead of the 3-point hitch, for liability reasons. The lower the point on the tractor that you hook onto, and I suppose the closer to the tractor, the less chance there is of whatever you're pulling hanging or stopping, and the tractor rearing up and going over backwards. Of course, too much tongue weight on a trailer could also cause the front end to get too light or rear up. On the other hand, the 3-point does not have "down force" so zero tongue weight or a negative tongue weight might cause the front of the trailer to come up instead of staying level.
So there's no doubt the "safest" thing to do is use the "swinging drawbar" firmly attached to the lower side of the rear axle.
And now, with all that being said, I'll bet most of us prefer to use the 3-point to get the pivot point farther back for tighter turns and so we can raise or lower the hitch for hooking up, and to raise the front of the trailer for dumping. So I won't tell anyone else to use the 3-point, but I will tell you that if I had that BX, I'd use the same hitch I have in that picture./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif In fact, I made that contraption for my
B7100 and now use it on the
B2710; wouldn't be without it. You just have to use a little common sense, i.e., I wouldn't try pulling hard against a heavy load with the 3-point raised above the horizontal position.
