have you read the oil specs in your owners manual ? That's always a good place to look for answers to questions like that.

Many of us use Shell Rotella T synthetic for diesels in 5w40. Works especially well in cold weather for cranking your diesel engine but still gives excellent hot weather protection. Meets and exceeds all current API specs as well as Cat,JD,Case IH, Agco,Kubota, etc.
