synthetic 15w40

i have not found any synthetic in 15w40 anywhere locally walmart autozone advance auto and o'reilly that is why i posted the question. and royal purple is the only synthetic in 15w40 i found online

I think it's the same reason buggy whips are so hard to find these days. 5W40 is better than 15W40 so there is little need for it in the market so that's what the makers make.

I know if I were going to pay for syn diesel oil I would not be buying a 15w40 if I could find it. Like we have said there is no point in buying it.

Amsoil also sells a 15w40 synthetic. I use their 5w40 synthetic diesel oil.

murse72 simple question: given your location, why are you bound & determined to use 15/40 syn over 5/40 syn? added protection in summer? clemsonfor addresses that argument very well. for your situation, i agree w/the consensus: rotella 5/40 T6 would be my choice. am in a similar location as yourself, use it in every 4 stroke engine i have including vehicles best regards

Schaeffer and Amsoil have diesel rated 15W40.

Amsoil can be ordered online or by phone. Haven't used Schaeffer, but have heard good things about them, and a buddy of mine out West likes it.

What brand is it? A Chinese tractor or Russian? I wonder why they don't acknowledge a common oil weight?


But here is the deal. If they recommend 5w30 and they recommend 15w40 , 5w40 is kind of between those two for a layman's comparison. Has a feature of each. And is a better motor oil than the previous listed, and is more common and thus will be cheaper in big name brands, like Rotell, Delvac, and Dello.

You are not listening. 5w40 is fine for use even if the manual calls for 15w40.

Rotella T6 is synthetic 5w40. Call your dealer and ask them if you can use rotella T6 and not void the warranty if you are that concerned. I guarentee the answer is yes.

Manuals call for MINIMUM spec. Its okay to exceed that. Case in point......your manual probably mentions NOTHING about synthetic. Yet you insist on using syn.....why? Duh....because its better. Well...5w40 is better than 15w40. Probably the single biggest benefit to synthetic oil is not thickening up as much when cold....IE better flow at startup. 5w40 and 15w40 are the same 40 weight oils. 15w40 thickens up ALOT when cold. 5w40....not nearly as much.

Murse forget what these guys are trying to tell you. Go look and look for what you are looking for. I run Shell Rotella T-6. I think you should run all over the country looking for whatever oil it is that you want.
