ill have to call about the texas refinery fluids, to see if they are available around me,and pricing, looked at thier web page sounds good, maybe if a blends not to much more than dino, ill give it a try....chris

Watch the synthetics that come from Petro Co. The US government allows them to merely crack the hydrocarbons then call it synthetic. Try and find out what base stocks it has. Street Commadores Magazine in OZ did a real eye opening oil test about a year ago.

I think any of the big name brands in synth are fine- Mobil 1, RedLine, Amsoil, Royal Purple.
I see one poster says there is NO temp reduction using synthetic.
While changing to synthetic is not akin to installing a bunch of large fan blown oil coolers to your rig- theory would have it that less friction means less heat.

Ever see Timken tests of the top 20 synthetics? I have the results are a real eyeopener. The brand that is hyped the most is one of the worst ones, along with the rest from the Petro Companies. The ones that came out on top both had a color in their names.

Do agree with the temp reduction, along with more oil pressure, and ease of starting year round. Piston slap seems to be lessend if it does'nt go away totally. Biggest problems are leaks if you have them synthetic will leak more.

i also believe in the less friction less heat "theory"

think ill hit the web and see if i can find that timken test.

thanks...chris

Both Royal Purple and Amsoil Reps said that they use the exact same base stock for their oils. The only difference is the additive package.
