Synthetic grease?

I have been using Valvoline semi-synthetic for about 5 years now in u joints, tie rods ends, wheel bearings, etc. It seems to me the grease dries out and cracks quicker that the non-synthetic type. The consistency doesn't look as good, particularly after it has been out of the tube/can for a while.

I've been planning on going back to Kendall blue, but I've heard it's not a good idea to change grease types.

When you say last longer.. as in it doesn't wash out or migrate as much?

Both. It stays in place longer or appears to. I have only been using it for about 90 hrs over about 3 months. We will see how it does over time. But so far it looks good.

I think that is what is happening to all over us. We do not know since it is short term.

I know the problem I have is that I follow the manual and grease the loader and backhoe every 10 hours of operation, so it is hard to tell if it works better or worse.

Same here... I'm using the NH blue grease on my fords, and the red? peneplex? for the IH cub.

I greased the JD 'B' with Nh blue as well, after getting rid of all its old grease.. as I wasn't sure what the prev owner used... imagine that.. a jd using 'NH blue grease'... might cause an alergic reaction...

Anybody know what JD's grease spec is?

My buddy has an 18 wheeler flat bed, hauls hardwood lumber running about 1000-2000 miles a week. Using any brand dino grease and purchasing only by price he was having to grease his truck about once every 2 weeks or risk a breakdown. The grease he was using would not hold up. Another trucker told him the try the Amsoil grease, so he picked several 10 pks of gun tubes. He was buying dino grease by the case load but with the Amsoil HD grease it has been about 6 months on a 10 pk and he does not have to grease it as often. ABout once every month but he thinks he can even go longer. He now wishes he would have broke down long ago, he thinks of all the nights he spent crawling under the truck to grease the springs shackles. etc.

I tried to tell him 10 yrs ago but he would not listen, thought the only good stuff was the cheap stuff.

What is synthetic what is dino? lol no one can fully clarify.. i would recommend mobil's extreme service products. Or some product with Moly in it. Delo has a good prouduct. Most name brand products work best.

But for specific needs always look around because no one grease excells at everything so if u need a specific demand always use a specialty product.

All greases have different base oils additives etc. I think the application/spec is most important i doubt any differences in the base oils vs the same base oils in synthetic form.
