Last fall I changed out the UDT in my B2150 for Super UDT to help with cold weather performance. I did get better cold weather performance but also experienced about a 20% reduction in loader lift capacity. Kubota tech suggested that this is because the better flow of super UDT permits easier bypass of worn components thus reducing lift cap. I am about to change fluids again and would like to use a pure synthetic to eliminate hydo whine, but I'm concerened that loader performance may suffer even more (my understanding is that Super UDT is a blend) Any thoughts? Is there a Synthetic fluid that is "heavier" than others that may perform better?

The whine will be there no matter what oil you use. I do believe unless you have put a lot of hours on your tractor that the rep gave you a lame excuse. I would wonder how you knew that you had a 20% reduction in load capacity? You may have had a relief valve get a little weaker but that can be adjusted.

Thanks Art I figure 20% because the rated lift is 840lbs and last fall I moved a rock (picture in one of my old posts) that I could not lift again after changing fluids. This summer I did a patio project using 50lb concrete blocks and the loader could only lift 12 of them at a time.
Is the relief valve something I can adjust myself?

you mentioned hydraulic whine... I would do a pressure test and see if the pump is doing as it should. The whine might indicate a unhealthy pump, but maybe not, I have seen pumps that whined bad and worked fine for many years. Just a thought....

slowrev, the whine I was refering to I think is the "normal" noise produced by hydro tranny. I though I had read here in other postings that Syn fluid would help reduce this noise?

No problem if normal whine, but I have heard the whine keep getting louder as a pump breakdown approached. Hope yours is the normal level /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am going from memory, so please bear with me. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

There is a specific 'problem' that affects Class II NH Boomers when the hydraulic fluid is cold. There's a louder than normal whine when using the FEL until the fluid warms up. It doesn't hurt anything, it's just annoying. The 'real' fix from NH is to replace some steel lines with rubber. In some (all?) cases switching to a synthetic hydraulic oil, which flows better when cold, has also resolved the problem.

New Holland also suggests the use of F200 Hydro Fluid in place of NH134D in colder climates. They say it can be used year round! To my knowledge, it is NOT synthetic, but rather multi viscosity. My 7308 Loader screams when the temp. drops below 10 deg. I plan to switch to F200 at the 300 hour fluid change. I understand also, that the "float" position of the bucket will not engage while this "whine" condition is present. If you use your loader for snow removal, you shoul consider this also!

In preparation for this winter, this is why I switched to Amsoil synthetic hydraulic fluid.

Mike: How or why is Amsoil Synthetic better than NH F200? Is it suitable for year roud use?
