"" What would be an average price for a quart, and a gallon of Amsoil oil ""

Contact: Lubrication Specialist

"" use the same oil in the hydraulic system?? ""

You wouldn't use Motor Oil in your car's automatic transmission, or ATF in its crankcase, because they are very different products designed to do very different jobs!! Likewise use Amsoil 0W-30 in your PT engine, and Amsoil ATH in your PT hydraulics!!

Changing 10 gallons of hydraulic oil may seem expensive, but it is a one time thing! Over the years if it prolongs top performance and extends useful life, it may be a very small investment! A lot of guys are into restoration. I prefer preservation!!

"" time to change over the hydraulic oil too? ""

At 100 hours the entire PT should be nicely broken in.

The theory is break it in long enough with dino oil to reach peak performance, and then convert to Amsoil to preserve that peak performance for as long as possible!

"" I hesitate to change over my car though since it has over 150k on it. ""

Do you plan to stop going to your doctor after your 50th birthday? If your car is running well, and has had regular maintenance, why not try to preserve its performance for as long as you can?? "Oil is cheaper than repairs!!"

Different weights for summer and winter.

In reading the info from one of the links, it seemed like there wasn't a lot of value to changing your oil to a heavier weight in summer and lighter one in the summer.

I remember living in more extreme climates where we would change to a lighter weight oil in the winter so that the engine would turn over and to a heavier weight in the summer to provide more protection in the summer heat.
