T-12 QA on 1445?

No Sir, that young man will have to change his attitude if he wants to work for PT. The only answer I could get out of Tazewell, to the same question was, we don't recommend it. I can kind of understand, for liability reasons, why they can't say it's OK to put the weaker QA on the bigger tractor.
Sorry *clears throut* I don't recommend that. jk

Sorry RegL. I had no clue. Just trying to help.

I discussed with PT using PT422/425 attachments on a 1430. They were concerned that the attachments would be damaged by the more powerful machine.

translation:
we don't recommend it, since then you wouldn't buy a whole new set of attachments from us for your new tractor

I believe that PT might have a point about not selling you a larger attachment plate for smaller attachments. For one reason, it will not fit correctly without modification. and It is kind of logical. If they did sell you a part and something failed , and maybe injuries, then they might be liable. If the QA plate lugs are 16 in, then you could just mount the plate designed for the attachments. I believe that the plate on the 1445 is 5/8 in with 16 in lug centers. Perhaps someone can verify. If you were bound and determined to use the 1445 plate on attachments for smaller PT's, then you could have someone mill the top part of the plate to match the width of the smaller plate. Say from 5/8 in down to 1/2 in , or 3/8 in. I guess you know that you can modify just about anything for anything.

OK JJ, You have brought it back around to my original question. Will the plate for a 1430 fit on the arms of a 1445? What is the difference in the two? Are they both 16" on center? Are they different thicknesses? I assume the 1445 plate must be beefier in some way. I sort of understand Power-Trac's concern, but don't other company's use universal skid-steer QA's on a wide range of machines? Maybe that's the way to go. Convert to universal QA and be done with it.

I don't know if all the mounting lugs for the QA plate is 16 in on center, but the plates have different thickness. You know PT is not going to make it easy to use whatever implement on everything, even from the same manufacture . Pt is going to get there moneys worth. Maybe some of the other owners of different machines will post the actual measurements of the QA plates, length, width, thickness, etc.

The skidsteer people got together and decided on a standard for the skidsteer attachment layout, but even with that, you will have differences as to how much metal is in the adapter plate, which locking holes to use, etc.

PT-1430, 1845, 1850, = T12 plate, @$200 Lift 1200 lbs

PT-1445-------------= T18 plate, @$300 Lift 1800 lbs

PT-1460-------------= T24 plate. @$350 Lift 2400 lbs

Every attachments that I make for my 1445 is with 16 in centers with a 2 in spacing. I have the 3PT.
