Tractor
Kubota Tractor Loader L3560 HST+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3,700 pounds bare tractor, 5,400 pounds operating weight, 37 horsepower
After 7,600 posts on T-B-N I find it baffling how few new members specify their location.

I find it difficult, sometimes impossible, to post solid information without knowing where the OP will operate the tractor.

Here are my reasons for wanting OP location.

ALTIITUDE - Tractors lose 3% of engine power output for every 1,000' altitude increase, over 1,500' Sometimes twenty posts will be made advising on tractor horsepower, then we find OP is a 6,500 feet altitude and is considering a low power, naturally aspirated tractor.

WEATHER - ESPECIALLY SNOW - Blowing snow and mowing are the two tasks that require considerable engine power. If we know an OP is in Buffalo, NY rather than Key West, FL snow needs are apparent.

WEATHER - Large swathes of the country have a continental climate, four seasons, with great temperature variations between winters and summers.
Areas near the coast have varying maritime climates.

PRICING - Tractor and implement pricing and dealer service pricing varies a great deal. Lowest prices are usually in the south. Prices along the west coast and in the northeast are usually highest.

Some states exempt agriculture and forestry equipment from state sales taxes. Florida is one example of liberal ag sales tax exemptions.

IMPLEMENTS - Availability of implements brands are regional, not national. ie: CountyLine, Rural King, etc.

SOIL AND GROWING SEASON - Whether game food plots or market crops, soil and length of growing season(s) in important. Soil type influences tire selection.

USED TRACTORS - When the OP posts a location, OP is often referred to good used tractors nearby or provided local tractor listings from Craig's List, eBay, TractorHouse, Machinery Peter or other sites.

Everyone on T-B-N has a screen name, as anonymous as they like. Any other profile information is contributed voluntarily, such as age and tractor brand/model. Relative to the massive data heists reported so often, with names, address, Social Security and credit card numbers stolen, this site is nearly anonymous.

What other reasons exist to encourage new members to complete the T-B-N PROFILE WITH SOME FORM OF THEIR LOCATION?

Some guys here are just bound and determined not to let anyone know where they're from.

General location whether it's just what part of a country would be nice. Guess they have their reason. Keep the Feds at bay I guess..

Sorry but none of your arguments pose any logical relevance to 99.8% of queries posted...

C'mon...
...I find it difficult, sometimes impossible, to post solid information without knowing where the OP will operate the tractor...
...have you lived and operated a tractor in every location on the planet and keep abreast of every local significance?...give me a break! or do you think of yourself as a "tractor omnipotent"? LoL....location is NOT germane to the majority of addressing and solving issues posted...when it rarely is, local conditions are usually cited early in a thread...

FYI listing a location is NOT important...generally if a specific location is paramount to being able to resolve an issue or answer a question the location or conditions are given...IMO wanting every member of TBN to post their location is just being nosy...plain and simple...

I agree with Jeff, Not sure why some posters are reluctant to list their location.

If a member is really worried about their privacy on this issue, could you at least put the general area, upper mid west, Deep South, etc.

It would help in some situations, such as pricing and attachment questions to clarify discussion of topics.

At least put your state. Your county too if you're brave and manly enough.

Nonsense...again, unless someone has personal local experience how would they know the particulars of an unfamiliar area?...or have you lived and operated a tractor in every location on the planet too?

People, this is an internet forum, who the **** cares where any one subscriber is located! Forums are for entertainment purposes, well it sure seems that way as much of the content is just plain funny.

It seems half the people are afraid to list a phone number in a for sale add on Craig痴 list and have to use a secondary e-mail then wait till they feel safe enough to actually make contact with potential buyers. Then You expect them to put thier location in thier profile where someone might actually be able to figure out what state they might be in, God forbid anyone might be able to get close as that might scare them to death!

As it pertains to the average question most specifics can easily be covered without giving a location and for those who feel they need that info to answer a question can simply ask for it or just not reply to that particular post.
