T035 - Post Hole Digger

I have a 1954 TO35 and I would like to put a pto post hole digger on the back of it. I talked to a mechanic who used to work on these little tractors and he says that because the PTO is so low on them, that a standard digger does not work. He said that Ford made a smaller one for the 8N and 9N tractors that work well on these MF's as well. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

I have a 1957 to-35 and the std post hole digger works fine on it.

works much better than a manual post hole digger.

I can't guess what the mechanic was referring to.
If it was the speed of the PTO. Well, you never run a post auger at anything much faster than an idle anyway.
If it was the size of the three point hitch, I is a standard Cat. 1 hitch.

The hitch AND PTO stub shaft location in relation to the hitch on the TO series meets with ASAE (American Society of Agricultural Engineers) commonly accepted standards for CAT I hitch. In a nutshell, they're basically the same configuration as most all 3-point hitch equipped small utility tractors. I know of personally, at least a 1/2 dozen folks who use oridinary "off-the-shelf" post hole augers of various brands on TO35/MF35's with ZERO issues.
