Both are solid tractors. I had an old geared, Ford 1100 with standard (i.e. fixed) lower link arms. My new tractor has telescoping lower link arms- to me they are like one of those "quick hitch" add-ons. If you intend to do a lot of FEL work go HST- it's easier on the legs. Weight your rear tires and a good heavy boxblade does wonders at keeping the tractor "balanced" when carrying weight in the FEL. Jay

I went with the 1520 and a Woods loader, more lift and reach than the NH Loader. At the time NH didn't offer a QA bucket for the 1520 so I got a HD bucket with greater capability for only a few hundred more than the parts to convert the NH to QA

Was pretty focused on gears but switched to hydro at the last minute. I am good with shifting gears, you probably are also, but future buyers are less likely to be.
