TACH HAND STICKING

   / TACH HAND STICKING #11
Im asked the dealer if a new instrument cluster would make sense, he said that it cost was prohibitive and to keep wacking it. I know that the first time I really need the tach it won't work at all. Well I guess I have my first complaint about this tractor.

We have tach problem on our Kubota B2710 HST with 530 hours. About 150 hours ago the tach will bounce against the max RPM stop when operating at about 1800-2000 RPM. The problem comes and goes. Anyone else ever seen this? Dealer offered to change out complete instrument panel for almost $400. Guess they believe troubleshooting is a lost and low profit art.

Thanks

Rick

My 3525 was doing the same thing. All of the gauges and tach were intermitten. Some one on here a while back said the needles were sticking to the post they rest on and to sand them. I bought a new cluster off an EBay store for around $150 or so, can't remember exactly how much. 10 hours and so far so good. They definitely have a problem with their gauges.

The only time I ever had such a problem was with my first showroom new car; a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite. The dealer had to order a new tach, then installed it in the dash, and it worked just like the old one. The tach was cable driven off the back of the alternator, and the problem turned out to be the fan belt not tight enough and was slipping at certain RPM.:D

I have the same problem with my 07 4500, tach sticks and I just slap the dash and it goes to working

We have a relatively simple fix. Remove the cluster from the tractor, remove the cover from the cluster, find a WD40 dispensing straw, cut the straw in the correct lengths to fit over the "pegs" in the instrument cluster, apply the straw pieces to the pegs, reassemble. The needles on the instruments will not stick to the WD40 straws. Just my $.02

Neat fix. I wonder if Mahindra will take notice and add direct the vendor who makes these dashboard displays to incorporate your fix. I'm not holding my breath:confused2:
