Its mind blowing what kubota designed for a cab filter. The filters are a joke, same as the recirculate filters on a rtv1100(which I closed off on mine). So Im building a new filter housing for the kx. I found a engine filter for a Mercedes that is the perfect size. Im using 16ga metal which Im not used to welding such a thin metal.
This inside the filter housing after 50hr.

You running the machine with the door closed.... The Komatsu at work has crappy little filter also but the run them with the door and front glass open. The dust is like baby powder gets everywhere.....Nice job should collect more dust then the other filters.....

Really nice work on the custom filtration unit. Was the original filter box not sealed tight to the filters? My m8540 cab filter system leaves a little to be desired also. When I was in the market for a mini ex couple years ago I looked at some of the kx models. I believe it was a kx 40 that I lifted the floor mat and could see the rubber tracks , no sealed steel floor in some areas. Just the floor mat that does a poor job of keeping the dust out. Is yours this way? Like the Kubotas for the most part but find some things could be improved on.

Lots of people complain and only a few like you choose to improve their situation. Tedious and time consuming fabricating the right parts, the best hardware and best selection of materials. Particularly on a new and expensive machine. Looks simple when done hides all the 100s of design decisions to get there.

With all the time, money and effort Kubota has invested in the HVAC systems they should work properly. Not have obvious functional issues.
Not worthy of their reputation.

Nice solution for a poor design. Good job!

In my third post, the pic shows the 2 factory filters. They are jokes. They are basically like the cheap blue ones you see at lowes. Incredible.

Re: Tackling my kx040 horrible hvac filtration.

So I went a different direction. I used the kubota cabin filter used on most of its machines. I kept it as simple as I could.

I would like to make a tunnel so it sucks from the opposite side the vents are. The other thing is I need to figure out a way to incorporate outdoor air intake to achieve positive cabin pressure. I bought a svl75 and it has the same recirculate set up and uses the same cheap filters as the kx uses inside, but it does incorporate this filter on the outside.
