TAFE TRACTORS: Drove 2 today.

Hey ya'll,

Does anyone know any information on the Tafe brand tractors? I read all the pages in this forum, but it wasn't much info there.

I drove the Tafe 3840 (with power steering and dual stage clutch) and the Tafe 2800 today. I liked the tractors alot. The 3840 seems almost identical to my uncle's 1997 Massey Ferguson 231.

The dealer said that the 2800 has a Mitsubishi engine and the 3840 has a Perkins engine. Well, the brochure on 3840 says it has a " Simpsons S 325.3 Diesel Engine ". Is the dealer or the brochure lying, or am I just confused?

P.S........I am a VERY PROUD Mahindra owner. This post is for my cousin. He is planning on buying next week. I will say that he DID like the Tafe tractors better than the Mahindras on the models he was looking at.

Hey Travis,

Pop the hood, The Engine will have a manufacturers plate on the engine, stateing the name of manufacturer, date, HP, etc.

I read somewhere that the Simpson is a clone of a Perkins.

The 2800 is an LG machine, the same company that makes Montana and Farmtrac Compacts. Mitsubushi is a good engine and I understand that LG driveline is one of the best.

Not sure if their web site would give you the info that you are looking for, but if you do a search for Tafe tractors, it should bring up their site. I was on it last week. I believe their USA headquarters is in Mississippi.
Forgot to ask: how was the pricing or did you ask?
