Tailgate thefts on the rise

For you guys with trucks, keep an eye on your tailgate! Thieves are increasing their efforts to grab people's tailgates. They then try and sell them on CraigsList for a quick buck.

Theives were doing this in my area a few months back.They were caught & are now in Jail

I'm thankful that mine is lockable. I try to keep it locked.

2 of my friends have had them stolen in the last year. One went in Wendys to get carry out and 5 minutes later, it was gone.

Glad Ford and Nissan, the two types of trucks I have, thought ahead and put locks on the trucks.

We added on to my neighbors Dmax 3500. Pretty simple and cost less than $50

Dave Woodmancy suggests tailgate thieves can be inexpensively deterred by putting a radiator hose clamp around the hinge that lifts to remove the gate. Most thieves don't have the screwdriver, ratchet or time to loosen the clamp and are likely to move on to something easier.

My GMC has a factory tailgate lock as well....Haven't used it though.
