Well folks, it looks like I'm going to take the plunge and get me one of them there tractors. I decided on the TC35 because of the hp and price. I compared mainly to the Kubota L3010 and Case-IH D35. The quotes I received for the L3010 was higher, as was the D35, mainly because of the dealer in this case... no pun intended, he was higher than NH by about $1000 and only wanted to sell me a Bush Hog FEL instead of the Case L160 FEL. Oh well... other than that the Case dealer was OK.

Here is the deal I'm getting:
TC35 (GST)
16LA FEL
R4's
Quick Attach
72" HD Bucket
720BX Bush Hog boxblade
Bolt-on Cutting Edge
Grill Guard

All for $17530.00 from Hill County Implement in Hillsboro, TX. Thanks to Bird for turning me on to them. Includes free delivery and full tank of fuel. Salesman there has been very personable and helpful, as well as understanding while I was 'looking around' to make sure I was getting the best deal and best tractor for my needs.

From what I've seen on the board here, it seems like a fairly good price. What do yall think? Planning on closing the deal over the weekend, also looking into getting the pallet fork attachment for the loader.

Sam, is that a TC35 or the TC35D? And is it a GST or an HST transmission? I didn't know they offered a GST for the TC35 (doesn't list it on their web site). Ought to be a nice rig.

Bird - Thanks again for the suggestion a few weeks back to contact Hill Co. Imp., it is much appreciated.

By GST, I simply meant that it was a gear shift transmission and not hydrostatic and inturn not the TC35'D' model. Sometimes folks refer to both the standard and the deluxe model simply as a TC35 and leave off the 'D'. I was just trying to denote that it was not a 'D' model tractor.

It is has the 12x12 shuttle tranny which should work out great for my needs. Looking forward to taking delivery and getting some seat time. Guess I'll have to change my signature soon.

OK, Sam, that's what I suspected. But I'm used to thinking of "GST" as the glide shift transmission in the Kubotas. Your new tractor ought to be a workhorse. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I've not ever bought anything from that dealer, but the only time I've been in there, they seemed like nice folks.

It stands to reason that I tried to make it clear for the NH guys and ended up drawing the Kubotas guys offsides. But no problem anyhow, I'll try to not use conflicting terminology in the future.

On another note, this weather we're having, sans last week, is something else. I don't recall such a warm late fall as we're having now. How 'bout you?

BTW, I'm 36 and a native Texan.

Sam, congratulations on your tractor. Was your deal for one on the lot or do you have to wait for delivery? Also, now is the time to mention the parts manual and repair manuals to your dealer so you might get a better deal if you think you might need them. You are right about this weather. It's very warm for December. One day soon we will have a cool snap and surprise us (I'd say "cold snap" but the guys from up north would correct me). Anyhow, I planted about 1/4 acre of rye about 2-1/2 weeks ago and in the last two days it has sprouted and jumped up about 1". It's beautiful! I cleared an area on a hillside under some trees and built terraces using my TC45D. One of my neighbors asked me if I was building a park. I told him no, but his calling it a "park" sure made me feel good. If I have time this weekend, I'll snap a photo and post it. You should take a full set of photos of your property now before you begin tractoring. Later, when you do a project, you will have good before-after photos. If someone asks you why you need a tractor, you can show them what you've done with it. Let us know when you take delivery.

Unfortunately, most of us do it from time to time (including me, of course/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif).

Well, next month I can say you're just half my age./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif And I can't even claim to be a native Texan, although some of my ancestors were. My granddaddy said his family moved from Bowie, TX, to "Indian Territory" (in a covered wagon, of course) when he was 5 years old, so I was born just north of Ardmore, OK, and moved to Texas when I was 16./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird, your bio says you were born in 1940 (the same year I was born) and then you say next year someone 36 will half your age. I beg your pardon. That would make you 72 and I am not gong to be that old next year. Are you???

Jim - Thank you, they have the tractor, loader and box blade but are having to track down the quick attach and bucket. I should find out today when they think they will have it all together. I'll have to drop a bug in his ear about getting some manuals, I pretty much consider myself a DIY (do-it-yourselfer) and reading manuals sometimes is pretty good reading!

I've got a few pictures of our property already. We are in the middle of building a house so we have been taking pictures through the different stages. I'm acting as the general contractor and am sub-contracting a lot of it out, but my dad and I are doing the framing. In fact, we're starting to lay the decking for the second floor today. The tractor is going to come in real handy for landscaping, construction, etc. I can't wait to plant some grass too. That's one thing I think is really beautiful - a nice green field growing in the middle of winter here in Texas, or anywhere for that matter!

Don't worry, yall (obligatory Texan speak) will be the first to know when my tractor shows up!
