My MX5100 makes the same sound at start-up during cold weather. I also had Rotella 15w-40 in it. I switched to to Rotella full synthetic 5w-40 for better cold wx starting. The noise is greatly reduced and clears up quickly. I'm going to stick with the synthetic from now on.
