Tarantulas. You like 'em, come get 'em

Got another one last night. Got home late, and it was waiting for me at the base of the front door. That makes 5 for the little girl's shovel, and one for my metal shears.

I have personally used products from these guys and really like the results. It works on all types of arachnids and is safe to use around the house/etc.

I first learned about the product from a neighbor who would dilute the product in water and wash his dogs with it. I now also do this in addition to spraying it around the foundation of my home every 30/45 days. It will kill on contact and also deter future pest intrusions. I have also started to use it on the railings/deck of my rural property (we had major spider issues) - works great.

I've heard of the brown recluse... nasty things. We've got White Tip Wolf spiders which are similar in colouring to the Huntsman but smaller.

It took me many years to finally get comfortable with the Huntsman spider. They're actually a pest-controlling, friendly to humans, BIG HAIRY spider. OK, maybe I'm still not all that comfortable with them, but I no longer kill them on sight.

We have brown recluse, too. But they look nothing like a tarantula. Brown recluse are MUCH smaller and don't have the "hairy" feature of a tarantula. We also have black widows. Nasty little things, but the brown recluse does more damage if you're bitten.

Bizimmel, Take a look at Wagtails pic on pg1 of that big old Huntsman spider and look at this...and compare to that pic look similar? Yikes gives me the creeps dont know about anybody else. Granted its not a tarantula but a spider that big is pretty scary.

They aren't controlling beans except the wife.

She is ready to shoot blindly into the ceiling with a Big Gun and that would not be very Kalifornian, although she is a native. I was thinking there would be a kindler, gentler way, like flamethrowers or cyanide.

I went to the really good local hardware that knows everything. The old guy there that knows everything about everything, who can tell you how to do every little repair and kill every little weed, reacted incredulously. "Tarantulas! I'd bomb the attic." And he walked away, mumbling, "bomb the attic, bomb the attic." It was like a scene from Jaws.

Jim, I have been stung by all of them...wasps, yellow jackets, hornets, bees , spiders , chiggers etc. ..but the scorpion was by far the most sudden onset of pain and lasted the longest...the stings from the others, like you, not much - after an hour or so all gone and no swelling...but that scorpion...yikes...

Brin ,I have also been stung by a scorpion and I have found a cure all solution for the burning and pain ! I take a fifth of Gin and mix it with some soda water and a few crushed limes and in about 20 minutes after consuming 4-5 glasses of this majic concoction I no longer feel any pain and barely remember what I was stung by !
