Shot my Remmy a few times yesterday. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, or I would have shot more.

100 yds., temp. 72, light wind (insignificant), humidity was high (rained later).

175gr. Federal Gold Medal Match, Sierra Matchking BTHP's.

Remmy 700 SS 5R, .308, H&S Precision PST-25 stock with a Harris Bipod.

Leupold Mk4 LR/T with Tactical Milling Reticle, 4.5-14x50mm

Targets 4&3:

Nice! IMHO, looks lke the gun needs a little fiddling with the bedding and those groups should tighten into one holers!:D

I heard that. I made some small adjustments after shooting target 4, same with 3 and 2. My final shots were the three rounds in the bull. I'm happy with it (for now). The rifle will shoot the same hole, me on the other hand, I'll have to shoot a LOT more to be able to do that.

Nah -- if you can shoot those you can shoot smaller:D I only say bedding cause the groups all seem to have a little "stringing" which is usually something rubbing as the barrel heats, a screw binding etc. Worth a close look-- a little sandpaper took a synthetic stocked 22-250 of mine from 1" groups to sounds like bragging:)

Podunk, I have almost the same rifle, different color metal.
Sheperd scope (mill dot)
Real kevlar stock, bought it at Bailey's police supply in TX back in 89.

It shoots great, but at 53 im getting a little shaky.

It loves federal 168gr. boat tail hollow point match ammo.

I shoot coyotes off my back deck or bedroom window at 268 yds.

best tack driver I own:D

I had never heard of "stringing"...unfamiliar terminology to me, but I got the gist of your post though. I just recently put the new stock on the rifle, this was the first time firing it since the install. It wasn't off too badly, as you can see, but the scope adjustments helped.

I'll shoot it again soon from a bench. This shoot was in the prone position in a field, on the bipod and a bean bag under the butt. I'm sure I can do better from a bench, always have...it's just more comfortable and breathing/heartbeat bounce is eased because there's no pressure on the chest cavity or stomach.

The guy who installed my stock was the armorer for the Orlando FL SWAT team until he retired in 2000 or 2001 and moved to NW Florida, just south of me. He's a certified Remmy armorer (along with just about anything else tactical) and inspected everything beforehand, clearance and the aluminum bedding block. He torqued it to the required 65"lbs, etc. I'll shoot off of his bench next time, see what's happening with the groups and let him make some adjustments if they are needed.

Thanks for the heads up!!!! I'll ask Ken about it.

Yeah, it's a sweet piece. I've experimented with the Federal GMMSMKBTHP168gr bullets and it shoots them well, but absolutely LOVES their 175gr bullets. My 5R's twist rate is 1/11.25" vice the normal 1/12" on all the other Remmy's and that little extra twist really does well for the 175gr ammo, or at least is the case with mine.

53 ain't old! I'm sure you ain't shaky. The guy who does all my gun work and works with me on my shooting is 61 and outshoots me on any given day! Don't know how many barley-pops I owe him (lost bets;) ).

Shepherd scope, WOW. I see them on a few guns still, not many though and the guys who shoot them, swear by them.

Which model Remington 700 do you own?

Here's a great article on the 5R: tobystactical.com: Remington 700 SS 5-R Milspec

By the way, not shabby shooting on your end.

Thanks!

SWEET scope, but not surprising, since it's you. The only guy I know who can afford to put Swarovski's on a daisy BB gun:D :D :D

No apologies needed. Thanks for the pic...

Anyone feel free to post up some pics...won't hurt my feelings at all!
