Far from the truth, particularly now that I'm married:eek:

My Remington 700 in a .300 Win Mag.

By the way, I've since sold all of my guns.

Nice Remmy and scope. 300 Mags pack a wallup, I know you miss it!

I know what you mean, getting married didn't slow things down with my gun-purchasing, but having a baby did. I said "slow things down", not stop altogether;), but I have to be cautious and make sure she's out before I go hauling another one to the safe!!!!!!!!! She'd have my head on a stick if she took inventory.

Never heard of that load before. However, I can tell you that just because it's a lighter bullet, it probably won't be a good shooter in my rifle. The faster twist rate of my rifle usually won't stabilize a lighter bullet until a few hundred yards down range. Of course, that wouldn't be too bad if I were shooting long range that day:)

Buy another safe, rotate inventory between safes, and stack a lot of magazines up high to hide some guns. Adding personal items in the safe can also help hide guns. Keep "mixing" up your inventory having "left" some guns at your buddies house (as long as he's not married himself). NEVER take a head count! (this I've only been told:rolleyes: )

That said, if anything should happen to you, you should have something on file to help your wife know what kind of dollar amount you have in your guns so God forbid, if you're not around, your wife will know what everything is worth.

Hahahaha...LMAO. You teach from experience!

As for the 2nd paragraph, I agree. I really need to do that. Maybe that's something good for a rainy day. Thanks for the advice, never thought of it.

Just make sure she can't access it while you're alive or she might kill you!:D

Nice shootin' rifle. There is no doubt you could get one hole 5 shot groups if you rolled your own ammo. With the price of ammo these days, you may want to consider getting into reloading.

I've thought many times about getting into reloading. Do you guys have any suggestions for a "medium to high end" reloading "starter" kit for novices such as myself? Post up a link so I can read up on them. I googled around and saw some stuff, but have no idea where to start or what to beware of.

Thanks.

Here you go.

MidwayUSA - RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme Single Stage Press Master Kit

MidwayUSA - Hornady Lock-N-Load Classic Single Stage Press Kit

midwayusa.com has everything you could think of and more.

I would recommend an RCBS kit. It will give you everything you need and it will last you forever. You could probably get by with a LEE kit too. Some like them and some don't. I would say the RCBS kit is the best bang for your buck. Hornady is equally good. Of course you will have to get dies, primers, powder, bullets. It can be an expensive upstart, but you will be ahead in the long run. You will never know your rifles true potential until you start test loads for it. Plus, it makes a great winter time hobby.

I would buy a copy of Modern Reloading by Richard Lee - see:

Lee Precision, Inc. Reloading Tools and Equipment: Modern Reloading Second EditionBook

Even if you don't necessarily choose Lee equipment, I think the book provides a wonderful intro and overview, and it also has a lot of load information for virtually all calibers.

I am a beginning reloader, and I started with Lee equipment. I have had zero problems with it. It is certainly less expensive than other brands - and while that usually is for a reason (quality), I would compare brands side by side in a store before writing off Lee.

Also, the book above is often bundled with a press or beginner reloading set, either on the Lee website or at places like MidwayUSA. The cost of the bundle is often not much more than the book by itself, so it's worth looking for these.

I would add - whatever brand of equipment you choose, I would consider starting with a turret press instead of a single-stage. The turret press is basically a single-stage press that lets you keep all the dies attached to one turret so you can swap them as needed without losing adjustments. You can also buy extra turrets to have several calibers ready to go, already adjusted. I find the most time consuming part of reloading with a single-stage press is the die adjustment. (Note, also, that a turret press is different from a progressive press, which I don't recommend trying to start with.)
