what about rubber roofing? I don't use it, but you can get it from job sites cheap. I have a garage, but some of my implements will be outside this year and I'll probably put them on pallets and cover them with ruber roofing or a pond liner.

I have canvs, but dont want to treat it.

How about one of the Samsclub $199 garage with walls and front doors? I know it wont last but a few years but its nice

I bought a similar tarp-shed from Sams a couple weeks ago. It is a different brand and looks better than the picture in the link though. Like the one in the link, it is 10'x20', and it also has a door on each end, windows on both sides, and a door on one sides. I put it up by myself in an afternoon, but it would have been a lot easier with two people. It should do a decent job of keeping off the sun/rain/snow while giving me a "protected" area to do maintenance, etc (I have no "real" garage at all).

As to negatives it is relatively thin fabric in my opinion, and it flaps around a bit in the stiff Oklahoma breeze. Lengthwise it fits my Kubota L3400 + a box blade, but if my brush cutter is attached the last couple feet of it stick out the back (it's plenty wide though). The doors are zippered, and a minor pain to roll up, and I have to remember to push them up just a tad when I go in/out because my rops is 1-2" too tall to just power on in.

I'm hoping to get two years out of it, anything more would be bonus. All in all - for $200 I think it's a decent risk to take while I save up for a real garage/shed.

I have had several of those over the years. I use 2 of them every spring/summer/fall. I have kept a couple of them over winter on the odd occasion where I didn't have a permenant roof to park my boat under.

As far as snow load, I found that the white ones that go all the way over the horizontal pole can handle 4" of medium density snow. Better get yourself a nice broom on a long stick to sweep the snow off of it while it's snowing.

The other kind, silver, that stop a couple inches from the horizontal poles don't shed the snow nearly as nice, so you need to brush the snow off of them more often.

For real canvas tarps, I think Army-Navy surplus stores still carry them. They are dark, so they heat up and I would think help melt off any snow. Just guessing there.

I have figured that I can build a 30x20 shed with three 10x20 bays and a metal roof for less than $1500 which means that it will probably cost around $2000.

But, until I find an extra $1500 I am using a tarp. As mentioned, you get what you pay for. I use a heavy gray tarp with gussets and it lasts about a year. Cost about $35 and covers my L4400 completely.

Can't wait to have my shed built. Of course my wife and daughter are pressuring me to make one of the bays into a horse stall.

I hate horses.

It could be worse...they might want all three bays as horse stalls...
