Does anyone use a tarp system for their dump truck? I want to buy one for mine but there seems to be so many different ways to go. I thing the arm system might work best for me. Although I am a little worried that I could damage it when loading the truck. I plan on mainly hauling gravel, dirt and probably some cut up trees also. Anyone have any company or system that they would recommend?

Thanks,
Jeff

It's a pretty crude system but it works very well. The previous owner of my F-350 dump truck took some heavy canvas which looks like it was made for a cargo cover and tied one end to some 2.5" PVC with a 90 degree bend on the end held on the bed with some huge U brackets. The other end of the cover has a small PVC pipe through the canvas with an eye hook in the center. I pull the cover over the load and use a bungee cord to tie it to the back of the tailgate. When I am done, I hop in the back and wrap up the cover with the PVC handle, use the same bungee cord to tie it to the window grate and it's out of the way.

Jeff, here's mine. I like it and it has given me no troubles. Funny thing is, I can't remember the brand, but it's probably a Pioneer or a Donovan. I suggest aluminum construction.

Thanks for the replies.

Builder, the system I want is just like the one you have. I have found their websites and will call them next week to get some more info. It looks like it will cost between $700 and $1000 depending on which way I go. Do you know how difficult it is to install one of them?

Thanks,
Jeff

Even if you're only an average mechanic, you can install it in about 4 hours. It's pretty easy.
