Did it work? Remember the TBN rule, no pictures, it never happened.
final report in.
Don't buy an uzi mag to use with your CT G2.
I hacked up a surplus ( few bucks.. no loss.. ) 32 rnd uzi mag to test with.
I added the back mag catch slot and built up guide areas. enlarged the area inthe back the hold open interfered with.
Conclusion. spacing and placement is so critical with hold open and ejector to follower to feed lip clearance that it is virtually impossible to mod an uzi mag. To add to it.. the metal follower is a really bad profile for the taurus. You CAN make it feed.. but the work needed on the adjustment is too tight.
I dinked with a mag for 4 hours with a file and brass building up.. fileing down. etc.. it's just too pickpy. mostly the follower. have to change the feed lips too. angle is ok.. but have to trim them.. etc. etc.
at best you get a chopped up mag that is an unreliable feeder.
The only other test I might make is if I can get a spare 10 rounder. is cutting it above the floorplate and then cutting an uzi mag head off and welding them. use both springs.
I have a feeling that will actually work.
follower will be perfect. entire top mag has all the bits to fit the magwell and the catch. all the connection to the uzi mag will be below the magwell cavity.. so a lil bup at the point of weld onthe outside will not bother anything. I'm uncertain i can line up the interiors to prevent catching... thus theis may be another experement.
this will all hinge on finding a spare / cheap ct g2 9mm mag.. i won't sacrifice a spendy mag.
I can chop up the already modified uzi mag for the lower part needed as all the mod was in the top couple inches.. brass can be removed.. and the cut portion is only the top 1/2"
will update if I can find a spare ctg2 mag.
