I used to always file in January or early Feb as soon as I got my W2. Being single and paying the early years of a 30-yr mortgage meant a huge refund every year.
Now I am married, can't claim the mortgage interest deduction since I rent the home out and have that income to report also, and my wife owns her own business. So naturally, just started working on it last night since things got way more complicated and I will owe money. Looks like a couple grand is all, not too bad.
Oh and I use express1040.com. Free, simple, why not. Just as good as a piece of software, but you do it on the web.
