TC 24D Oil Capacity

I'm getting ready to change the oil on my TC 24D. When I bought the tractor the dealer gave me a NH Lubrication Maintenance Guide. In the pamphlet the oil capacity is listed at 4.2 Qts. In the Operators Manual the capacity is listed at 3.5 Qts. Does anyone know which is correct? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Only your dipstick knows for sure.

I was charged for 5 quarts on my 50 hr service, so I would think 4.2. Rick has the better answer with the dipstick. Put 3.5 in it, run it for a couple of minutes to make sure all the filters are full, then add as necessary to the full mark.

I'd fill the oil filter before installing it (fill the filter just enough so it does not run out when you spin it on), plus it shouldn't take a couple of minutes to fill the filter, should it...just wondering?

MY TC 18 takes less than 3 - hope that calibrates you a little. My vote is for the 3.5

Ive done a couple changes on my 24 and both times it req'ed 3.5 qts...which agrees w/ my manaul.

I was just out looking through the shed last night to see if I had oil to do an oil change this weekend. Guess what I found? A 4 quart jug w/ about a pint of oil in it. That tells me that I put 3.5 quarts in it last.

Now if the wife can remember to make it to the dealer today to pick up oil & fuel filters I'll be all set. Do those and change the antifreeze I should be good to go until spring.
