Just replaced water pump on TC 29 with 1000 hours on it. Dealer said it was due. They are a great dealer to work with.
Any other normal problems I can expect at 1000 hours. All normal maintainance has been performed at dealer. Over maintainance actually as ALL filters are changed each year.

Since I received no replies to replacing a water pump it must not be a problem or not many tc-29 owners have over 1000 hours on their units.

I would say 1000 hours on a tractor is like 30-40k miles on a car. Most water pumps last a lot longer than that. I'll be really disappointed if mine goes out anytime soon. I'm at 1000 hours on my Boomer that I bought in early 2001, so I'll keep my eyes on my temperature gage and my nose "tuned up" to smell antifreeze since your dealer indicated the pump has this kind of failure rate. I don't think I'm that unusual, but I can instantly tell the type of fluid (coolant, engine oil, or hydraulic fluid) by its odor. If I'm going down the road and there's a car in front of me that's overheating, I can usually smell it. It makes me instantly check my own temp gage.

I suspect you are right that not many of the forum members here have 1000 hours or greater on their Boomers.

Does 600 on the TC29 and 400 on the TC35 count as 1000 hours? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm with you Jim. 1000 hours seems a little early for the water pump to die. I hope it's unusual!

I think it is the same pump as some of the Ford Compacts and they many of them have gone well over the 1000 hours. I am not worried because of one complaint.

dqdave, just wondering how often you changed the radiator coolant? Does anyone know if the coolant acts as a lubricant on the pump seal? My manual says change it "seasonally".

Changed the anti freeze every year; last year I changed it and put Extended life Prestone and now I hope that was not the problem as I replaced the pump and refilled with Extended life again.
