TC-30 Beeping at Rest

   / TC-30 Beeping at Rest #21
Sounds like my car.
It beeps if I leave it running as I pick up the mail, I just think it is lonely and needs human contact.

It's your fault, talk nice to your tractor and show it some affection, poor thing misses you.

This thread was started long ago, but apparently revived recently out of interest in the topic. I have had the same problem in the past and never actually found the issue.

Does anyone else find it wrong or selfish that someone starts a thread, coming to the community for help, but never closes out the thread that THEY started by sharing how their issue was resolved?

I really wish that forums would REQUIRE the originator to post back their solution or that the originator otherwise close out the thread.

PLEASE, if you have an issue and ask for help on a thread, please close it out by telling others what your ultimate solutions was. You can ultimately help a lot of other people by posting your solution. The ORIGINATOR of this thread asked for help from others but didn't care about helping other people by telling them how his problem was fixed, or by at least saying something like "Never mind, I sold the tractor."

I have had this same beeping at rest issue. In my case, unplugging the safety switch at the brake seemed to stop the beeping. I ultimately replaced that switch recently but I am not sure the problem is solved as there are other electrical issues currently. Sorry I can't help more.

I finally disconnected the beeper because I couldnt figure out what was causing to randomly start beeping. I do wish there was more follow up to what finally resolved the issues posted on here.

.. I didn't know about the parking brake thing, I wondered why it always beeped at me. Never had the random beep thing, that would drive me nuts...

I prefer Shibaura-built CUTs and have my second and third in regular use. When I park the NH T-1520 and turn the key off a beep reminds me to shift the range selector to N and lock the parking brake.

On the Case/IH/(Shibaura) I don't always hear the beep when I turn it off. I've since learned that the battery discharges when I don't do the same routine that the NH calls for. For me, it's good to hear that pesky beeper.

My tractor just started beeping every few minutes. Just sitting out there parked where it always is and it just keeps beeping.

When it starts beeping, look at the dashboard and see if some of the indicator lights are lit. Those would be the same lights that light up when the ignition switch is turned on and before starting. If so, you might have an intermittent contact in the ignition switch.

Hello, I'm new to the forum. Didn't think I needed a forum, but then now I have this alarm problem on my TC30, so swallowing some pride and asking for help. Thanks in advance if you can help.

Basic information:
2007 NH TC30
4x4
3X9 Transmission
440 hours total
Tractor is in great condition, never abused
Does not have mid-PTO option

Here is the problem:
When I cold start my TC30 everything seems normal at first. But soon the red idiot lights on the dash come on (temp, oil, airflow, all dimly lit), and the safety alarm goes off (beep-beep-beep-beep, etc.). First it was intermittent, now it just continues.

I've examined every single wire and connector that I could see or get my hands on, including inside the engine compartment (on the firewall), inside and under the instrument panel, under and on the side of the transmission, and all of the lighting wires. All of the connectors under the instrument panel I disconnected and cleaned with compressed air. All connectors and wires appear to be good, no frayed wires touching grounds or loose or damaged connectors.

I removed and cleaned all fuses. No fuses are blown. Still the problem persists. If I remove the 5-amp fuse, the beeping stops, as this fuse is for the safety controller. But I don't want to and shouldn't have to remove the fuse.

I removed and continuity checked the ignition switch. I checked each of the four positions (1-Glo, 2-Off, 3-Run/Acc, 4-Start). All good.

I also checked the alarm unit (found behind panel below the instrument panel). I checked for ground (black wire) and for voltage (red wire). Voltage is always present when the battery is connected, no matter what configuration the tractor is in (all safety switches closed, engine off).

I have not checked any fuel related items, because the tractor starts and runs perfectly.

One strange thing I noticed:
With engine running, when I move the gear range lever from one of the three ranges (1,2 or 3) into either of the two neutral positions, the safety alarm beeping seems to get just slightly softer (but still persists). When in positions 1, 2 or 3, the alarm is very loud.

Also:
Even after I shut down the engine, remove the key, main transmission in neutral, transmission range selector in neutral, parking brake set, on or off the seat, PTO disengaged, still the safety alarm continues, and will not shut off until I disconnect the battery (or remove the 5-amp fuse). I checked all safety switches with an ohm's meter, and also jumped all of them to close the circuits. Still the beeping continues. The four switches are: 1) Seat, 2) Rear PTO disengaged, 3) Trans range in neutral, 4) Parking brake set. I am convinced all safety switches are in good working order.

Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

I originally thought it might be a short, but now I think it may be the safety controller itself. I hate to buy a new controller not knowing for sure. I did some research on a new controller (part # SBA385871421) and I find 6 sources and prices from $424 to $470, and nobody has it stock (has to be ordered from the factory, and can take 3 days to get, or 3 weeks if not in stock at the factory).

Rather than removing the safety controller all together, or leaving it in and removing the 5-amp fuse, I just temporarily disconnected the alarm unit. Ultimately I think I will put in an external switch to connect/disconnect the alarm unit, because I hate having to remove that panel over and over again.

I am really stumped as to what to do next. Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks to all who have commented in the past couple of days. Been looking everything over and checking things out on the tractor. Basically, it's only supposed to beep if it's left in gear, the PTO is engaged, or the brake is not set...after turning off the ignition. None of these apply and yet it continues to beep intermittently at all hours of the day and night. Sometimes it is silent for hours on end, then out of the blue, it will start chirping away again; eventually stopping again. Of note might be the fact that sometimes, the beeping is not consistent in that sometimes it will beep 2, 3, 4 short beeps and other times it will beep 8, 9, 10 beeps in a row; stopping for a few seconds/minutes, then starting again not following any consistent pattern. Still baffled.
Mine does exact same thing. In neutral High, Medium, Low gear is set in neutral. 1,2,3, R is set in neutral. Parking brake on, pto off,key off, bucket down, lights off. beeps on and off 24/7

A battery disconnect switch will solve that problem and by putting the beep under your control instead of the tractor's. Disconnecting the bsttery is also a safety and theft prevention feature.
Amazon has a number of battery disconnect switches in the $20 range.

parking brake engaged, trans in neutral, gear in neutral, lights off and it still beeps. if i leave and come back and touch the tractor anywhere it starts beeping. that is weird.

Hi, I am dealing with the same issue. There have been times that it will not beep after connecting the battery, but very rare and starts beeping after a short time. I have the beeper disconnected at the moment, but I am concerned that it will come back and bite me for not having it hooked up if some other error occurs.

Does anyone know if other conditions (i.e. low coolant, over temp, low oil pressure, etc) will cause the alarm to beep or just the safety switches?

I have gone through the safety switches and they all appear to be working. I suspect a bad Safety controller, one of the two relays or maybe the diode has gone bad.
