My tractor just started beeping every few minutes. Just sitting out there parked where it always is and it just keeps beeping.
When it starts beeping, look at the dashboard and see if some of the indicator lights are lit. Those would be the same lights that light up when the ignition switch is turned on and before starting. If so, you might have an intermittent contact in the ignition switch.
This thread was started long ago, but apparently revived recently out of interest in the topic. I have had the same problem in the past and never actually found the issue.
I have had this same beeping at rest issue. In my case, unplugging the safety switch at the brake seemed to stop the beeping. I ultimately replaced that switch recently but I am not sure the problem is solved as there are other electrical issues currently.
I finally disconnected the beeper because I couldn't figure out what was causing to randomly start beeping. I do wish there was more follow up to what finally resolved the issues posted on here.
Hello, I'm new to the forum. Didn't think I needed a forum, but then now I have this alarm problem on my TC30, so swallowing some pride and asking for help. Thanks in advance if you can help.
Basic information:
2007 NH TC30
4x4
3X9 Transmission
440 hours total
Tractor is in great condition, never abused
Does not have mid-PTO option
Here is the problem:
When I cold start my TC30 everything seems normal at first. But soon the red idiot lights on the dash come on (temp, oil, airflow, all dimly lit), and the safety alarm goes off (beep-beep-beep-beep, etc.). First it was intermittent, now it just continues.
I've examined every single wire and connector that I could see or get my hands on, including inside the engine compartment (on the firewall), inside and under the instrument panel, under and on the side of the transmission, and all of the lighting wires. All of the connectors under the instrument panel I disconnected and cleaned with compressed air. All connectors and wires appear to be good, no frayed wires touching grounds or loose or damaged connectors.
I removed and cleaned all fuses. No fuses are blown. Still the problem persists. If I remove the 5-amp fuse, the beeping stops, as this fuse is for the safety controller. But I don't want to and shouldn't have to remove the fuse.
I removed and continuity checked the ignition switch. I checked each of the four positions (1-Glo, 2-Off, 3-Run/Acc, 4-Start). All good.
I also checked the alarm unit (found behind panel below the instrument panel). I checked for ground (black wire) and for voltage (red wire). Voltage is always present when the battery is connected, no matter what configuration the tractor is in (all safety switches closed, engine off).
I have not checked any fuel related items, because the tractor starts and runs perfectly.
One strange thing I noticed:
With engine running, when I move the gear range lever from one of the three ranges (1,2 or 3) into either of the two neutral positions, the safety alarm beeping seems to get just slightly softer (but still persists). When in positions 1, 2 or 3, the alarm is very loud.
Also:
Even after I shut down the engine, remove the key, main transmission in neutral, transmission range selector in neutral, parking brake set, on or off the seat, PTO disengaged, still the safety alarm continues, and will not shut off until I disconnect the battery (or remove the 5-amp fuse). I checked all safety switches with an ohm's meter, and also jumped all of them to close the circuits. Still the beeping continues. The four switches are:
1) Seat,
2) Rear PTO disengaged,
3) Trans range in neutral,
4) Parking brake set. I am convinced all safety switches are in good working order.
Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this?
I originally thought it might be a short, but now I think it may be the safety controller itself. I hate to buy a new controller not knowing for sure. I did some research on a new controller (part # SBA385871421) and I find 6 sources and prices from
$424 to
$470, and nobody has it stock (has to be ordered from the factory, and can take 3 days to get, or 3 weeks if not in stock at the factory).
Rather than removing the safety controller all together, or leaving it in and removing the 5-amp fuse, I just temporarily disconnected the alarm unit. Ultimately I think I will put in an external switch to connect/disconnect the alarm unit, because I hate having to remove that panel over and over again.
I am really stumped as to what to do next. Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
