Re: tc 40 won\'t start

&.5 or 8 or 10 amp fuse is not a big deal as I am sure wiring will handle it; it mainly would depend on what is being protected by the fuse; I assume the starter is on this circuit so logic says no current sensitive devises are on it also as starter can cause major voltage/amperes fluctuations. I bet 10 amps has solved the problem.

Re: tc 40 won\'t start

Greenthumb - I spent all summer chasing an electrical issue on my TC45D. Before it left the first time for the shop I had gone over all of the electrics (with help from others in this post). The unit went back and forth to the shop 2 times with intermittent starting issues until it failed "hard" in September. I am pretty sure your "one or two cranks" takes you out my situation, but just wanted to go on the record with the final fix:

- Loose attachments at the starter

Before hard failure the following had been fixed by the shop:

- All fuses - including master
- Ignition switch
- Continuity check on safety circuits

It was under a warranty I had worked out with the dealer when I bought in March.

Good luck....these electric issues are hit and miss with NH....but it's a great tractor otherwise.

Re: tc 40 won\'t start

Intermittant electrical problems are tough. I just had my GMC yukon at the dealer twice in 2 weeks to get the 'gas gauge' working.

First time they did a recall on some fuel system parts.. harness.. etc. Said that fixed it.. drove it home.. and it was apparent that it didn't. After calling the general manager and aprts manager and giving the them the "what for.. ".. I had it back in... they re-did the recall.. and then changed a fuel sensor under extended warranty.. and then that -did- fix it.

Seems like they should have tested it or something before handing it back to me the first time.. still broke. I don't think it would have been hard to drain the tank. and then see if the gauge worked.. then added my gas back to it to see if it registered... Considering they had to take the tank down twice.. just to -not- fix it the first time.

GOOD MECHANICS ARE HARD TO FIND; ANYMORE MOST SHOULD BE CALLED "PARTS CHANGERS"
