TC 45 D

Thanks Pedalstomper. You're right that I got the numbers for the TC45DA instead. However, I find the parts you found for the TC45D to be even more expensive. Tractorhelp lists a lower price than Messicks, but it's still way over the 2006 prices. The temperature gage is the most expensive. Maybe they are running out of gages and can't get any more. :confused3:

See the "edit" on mine? Yeah....I looked it up wrong at first. The TC45DA is cheaper....but of course not the TC45D.
It's never the ones that you need that are cheaper...

You know, that is one of my contentions about modern tractors(not just TC40D). I do not think they will age gracefully. Will our grandkids be using these tractors in 60 years?

A lot of those old tractors have very few instruments. The fuel gage was a stick they dropped down into the tank. Often, temperature gages were non-functioning and proofmeters didn't even exist or certainly weren't very accurate. We could/will find work-arounds if we lose support. As a matter of fact, if a tree limb smashes my TC45D's whole instrument panel, I may be trying to build a work-around rather than pay $780 for a replacement. Our instrument panel is $200 more than the one for the TC4xDA models.:confused2: It just seems to me that ever since New Holland decided the Boomer 8N would be a good idea, they have lost their reasoning and all ability to support their customers. In my opinion, somebody is trying to recover losses or line their pockets at our expense. I think New Holland has abandoned this market and doesn't really care.

I started seeing this a couple of years ago on my TC40D. I had a few minor issues with the fuel system that required replacing a couple of the lines. I finally found the root cause and ended up replacing a couple of injector and the entire fuel rail and the price for the parts just keep going up year over year. After it was fixed, I decided to trade it in on another tractor before the price to fix it became more than it was worth.

I think that's what they want. If the repairs get too expensive, people will trade up to a new model and they get another sale while somebody who doesn’t know any better gets stuck with a tractor that is going to cost a fortune to fix if anything goes wrong.

Got my Glow plug timer relay from E-Bay installed it this afternoon that was the problem. Thanks so much for all help. I'm going to see if I can get someone to run the volt test on the fuel, temp gauge before putting out Big $$$$ for the replacements.

Good work Anguss! I hope you can find something easily for the instrument panel. Did smackin' it not get it's 'attention'?;)

I wish it was that easy. I did get the instrument cluster off and noticed the needle on the temp gauge is very loose. I tinker with fuel gauge and needle was much tighter. Put it back together the fuel gauge seems to be working. I need to see if I can get temp gauge on the internet. Thanks again for the help! I'm spreading the word about this web site.
