tc18 2wd not hydro

What would be a ballpark price for this tractor? With turf tires. Dealer quoted me a price about 8000$. Is this about right. Thanks in advance.

Here's my breakdown:

TC18 with 4WD & Hydro R4 Tires (rears filled) & folding ROPS $10,000
7106 Loader $2,600
914A MMM 60" rear discharge $2,300

Others have gotten better prices (5-10% better) on the same tractor (search for TC18 or TC21D prices) but I liked the dealer & wanted to buy local.

I know we aren't comparing apples to apples (4wd & Hyrdro) but hopefully it gives you an idea.

I for one would say that the Hydro & 4WD are well worth the $2,000 over the life of the tractor. I don't know what you are planning to use it for, but they are pretty light and the 4wd really gives you added traction when needed.

I can't help you out at all with the prices, but I will also recommend 4 wheel drive first and hydro tranny second.

I would also recommend that you budget for a loader right from the start as well. With the competitive finance rates available, you might be able to get all of this and almost stay within your budget.

Assuming you're planning on keeping this tractor for a long time, then the additional cost is well worth it over the life of the tractor. If you're not planning on keeping it that long, it is the opinion of some that a 4WD and hydro tractor will sell easier on the used market. I'm sure a loader will help too.

Of course, most of us here are pretty good at getting others to spend their $.

I have the TC18 4wd gear transmission with loaded ag tires. I love it, mine was $8300 before taxes. IMHO 4wd would be well worth the extra cost they are a little lite. As for the hydro I can live without it, actually I didn't want it. If you are going to use it as a lawn mower go for a hydro model the live tranny would be worth it. That would step you up to a 21.

You can get the hydro trans in the TC18 but 4wd only no 2wd.

The live tranny (or PTO) on the HST allows you to run the mowing deck with the tractor stopped. When you push the clutch in on the gear models, the PTO & thus the mowing blades stop.

<font color=black>I can't speak for the TC18.. but on my 1920, ( and many of the other gear models I have looked at ) they have a 2 stage clutch. You depress the clutch half way to clutch the engine, and all the way for the pto.

There is even a swing out lever on the clutch pedal, so that it automatically stops at the first stage... great for bushhogging.

Is the TC18 not like this in the gear model?
