JPK TC 18
New member
Hi guys, sorry for resurrecting such an old thread but I am having the same issue with my TC 18. The problem started with the alternator light staying on at low rpms but going out at higher rpms. Now the light is on all the time. I replaced the battery, positive cable, and alt belt during the winter, then changed the negative cable when the weather warmed up
I routed the negative cable to a new bolt on the engine block and ran a jumper to the frame where the original negative cable was attached. The battery can be charged with an external charger, and it holds the charge. The alternator is putting out about 17 volts AC at idle and goes up to 36 volts AC at PTO rpms. I suspect the voltage regulator is bad.
I read this and other similar threads and did find the same voltage regulator that Guyw used on ebay. I used the number from that VR and researched it and found a similar VR....but with the correct plug for about $36 on ebay: NEW KUBOTA GRASSHOPPER RECTIFIER REGULATOR 6 WIRE PLUG 15351-646 15351-646 1
I am not sure if this regulator will work, but for this price I might give it a try. Does anybody see a reason not to try this? I don't want to fry anything trying to save money....but if it will work others will be able to save money also
I did PM guyw but he hasn't been on in a while. Thanks for the help.
