Should I do this or is worth paying to have it done? Given I still have warranty left.
Besides, I don't even know yet how much fluid is getting replaced in the tranny...I have not looked at the manual lately. say 8 gal of fluid plus oil...?

then there is the $60 one way trip to the dealer, since I have no trailer.

Or is it agravating enough to just pay them to do. It will be early summer based on usual usage before its due...

Maybe I'll bzz the dealer and ask for pricing and parts list....

I haven't done it yet (just passed 250), but I did do the 50 hour (replaced HST & Hydraulic filters). It is easy enough if you've got something to catch the oil. I think MikePA posted something here about the 2 oil pans he used on his TC25D. I used one when changing the filters. The HST filter is pretty pricey. I think I'll be switching to the F200 oil for better cold weather (NE snow removal) performance.

Yep I'm at 260 ish and am just planning ahead for early summer. Should be real close to 300 by then.

I just had the dealer price me all filters (he incleded inner and outer air filter)and hydro fluid. $210. Minus the air filters it should be around $145.

The fluid is only suposed to be 7.5 gallons. about what I thought. But ain't cheap..
About $80 just for that...

He did tell me the filters are all external as in no need to open up the tranny to get to any, so I will most likely do this myself. If any body beats me to it let me know what you found in the way tips and tricks....

Hazmat,

What have you noticed in the way of decreased performance. I'm on my first year and haven't been below -5 yet, so I don't know what to expect. So far, so good. But I am coming up on my 50 hour so I wonder if I should be considering the switch. I never even asked, who knows - the dealer might have already set it up with the cold weather in mind. We go to -30ish over night for a week or so every winter.

Thanks - Brad

hydraulics are sluggish & noisy untill they warm up. They warm up approximately 2 minutes before I'm ready to put the machine away. The three point "return to zero" adjustment is out of wack in the winter. Ie if I pull the lever all the way up, you can hear the relief valve hissing. Not so in the summer months.

Tractor is in attached garage (not heated). I've measured temps as low as +20 F in the garage during a cold spell.

I'm also considering a hyrdaulic heater. I put in a block heater when I changed the antifreeze (annual according to manual). When plugged in the night before a snow storm, the temp guage reads 1/4 before I start the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

General maintenance of these Boomers is relatively painless. This coming from a shade-tree mechanic with two left hands (and I'm right handed). For the hydro fluid drain pan (~8gal for NH TC25D) I used a generic Rubbermaid short tote like container. Replaced the 134 with f200. If you use your 21 in cool/cold conditions it reduces/eliminates the hydro squeal. Bummer is the cost (dealer price was $73/10gal). If the dealer changed my hydro the round trip trailer cost would have been $75 (+50mi round trip). Do it yourself is like free hydro fluid /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is that price for filters rather high?
I had my 50 hr service done with all but the air filters changed for well under $200. And that was including labor.

When I did my 50 hour I got

4 qts oil
1 gal Hydro oil
oil filter
HST filter
Hydraulic filter
fuel filter

Grand total $89

Outer air filter is pretty cheap if I remember correctly, haven't gotten the inner one yet (3 years or 1,000 hours).

We'll see what that squeel sounds like this morning. I need to push back some snow drifts and it is currently -12 degrees! It is supposed to get up to near zero later, then drop to -20 tonight. No heat in the garage and my wife won't let me bring it in the living room /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

yep The Air filter price was enough to choke on the 1st time I heard it. the inner filter is $35 and outer (paper) is around $30 Needless to to say I inspect the inner often and count my self luck it has no holes in it yet. But I usually buy 2 outer a yr. due to summer dust. and yep I did he same my 5ohr I di myslef and was alot less.
