I found a used TC21D today with 63 hours showing on the clock for $9750.00. This price is for the tractor only which looked almost like new. I would be using it to mow about 7-8 acres.

I would need to purchase a 60" MMM which I think would cost about $2500.00

Is this a good deal or is the tractor a little high priced.

Thanks

In September of 2001 I purchased a TC21D brand new for 11,000.00. It was about a $1,000 cheaper than any other New Holland dealer price. The 60"mmm went for 2,200 installed and delivered to my house. I also had a loader installed for 2,300.00. The TC21D ended up being too small and I returned it for a TC29D but the numbers above should give you a good idea.

Anyway I think $9750.00 is not a bad price, but if this is at a dealers place and you need the mower I would offer him $11,000.00 including the mower installed. Them mower brackets can be tough getting adjusted.

Hope this helps

You might want to consider a 3ph mounted mower. A bunch cheaper, and I think (depending one who made it) stronger. Also, it's easier to take off. I have a Farm King (same thing as a Buhler) on my TC21D. It's very well made, and much less expensive than a MMM.

I really like the TC21D. I might have to sell mine in the next month or so (thinking about moving overseas). It will be the toughest thing I've done in a while... I'd give it to my dad to use, but I'm afraid I'd cry when I saw it getting all dirty & dusty & rusty in the old cow barn...

Good luck!

Thanks for the input, but what makes the TC21D a better tractor than the Kubota B 7500 which I can buy new for about $10,000?

Things that differ on the New Holland TC21D and the Kubota B7500

TC21D

3 Pt lifts 1265#
FEL (7106) maximum lift height 78"
New Curved Arm Loader (12LA) goes higher (85.5")

B7500
No Position Control
3 Pt lift 1058#
FEL maximum lift height 69.5"

When I was in the process of buying I did test drive a Kubota. I can't remember what model it was. I was very turned off by the dealer. The only thing he could tell me was how bad the competitor's tractors are and what they can't do. I know that all salesmen are not like him. The other problem is he was 60 miles away and way out of line on his pricing.

I just didn't feel comfortable driving the Kubota. I can't tell you why but I just didn't. (Kind of like driving a chevy pickup when you have been driving Ford all of your life or vice versa.)

If you like the Kubota, go see your local dealer and maybe just get to know him, I would do that with the New Holland dealer also. You will need service and that means alot. The dealers may make up your mind for you.

If it is pricing, then the 1,000.00 can mean a lot also. If you plan on keeping the tractor for a long time resale doesn't mean much. If your not going to keep it for a long time then resale does mean something. (the age of each makes a difference on resale)

I do plan on keeping it for a long time. Shoppintractors you are correct I should have looked at the spec's before asking "whats the difference".
I guess I was supprised when the dealer came back with the price. I don't know what I expected but for some reason that sounded pricey.

Hi lynnmill,

In Jan. 2002, I bought a used TC21D with 60"MMM, and loader for $13,500. It had 92 hrs on it, and was in like new condition. I really think that you are looking at a fair price. The best possible thing would be if you could find one with the attachments that you want already on it. It saves you a good chuck of money rather then buying them at new price. You may also want to check out http://www.machinerylink.com. They have prices on used tractors on there. I will say that the TC21D was a very good choice for me. It mows great, and the loader is very impressive. Good Luck.
