TC24DA repair manual questions.

I'm considering buying a complete NH repair manual from a seller off Ebay. Does anyone have a NH manual? If so, is it worth the money? Is it detailed enough to say....troubleshoot why my diff lock won't lock?

The dealer had had my tractor for a week and has not even looked at it yet and I am thinking of getting my own manual (around $200) and fixing it myself.

Any thoughts?

Turning wrenches is something I have no fear of. I drives me nuts to have to take something to someone else to fix!

If it is the NH printing it's a very detailed manual. You could pay for it with one use.

Buy the whole set. They are very detailed, and should help you with any problems. I bought mine through New Holland for around $180. If you can buy the parts book also. It is a very nice reference to have.

My diff lock used to bind all the time, making it impossible to lock. My dealer told me to hit it with some WD-40 where the rod enters the transmission. I do that now every time I grease the machine and it works smooth. Apparently it is a simple, fairly bullet proof mechanism that just gets dried out and needs some lubrication. If yours is binding, give that a try. If you can depress the lever and it still doesn't engage, then you are beyond my experiences and may need that manual.

Thanks for the info. I tried the WD-40 but it did not help. The differential will lock but as soon as any torque is applied in a one wheel spinning situation, the lever will pop back up. I've even tried holding it down by standing on it and it still forces itself back up.

This problem first started while only in reverse and now has progressed to forward motion as well.

Looks like I'll be getting the manual.......
