New Holland TC25
I am losing rpms when cutting moderately heavy grass. It will even slow down when I cut a half a swath of grass. I have put in fuel filter and bled the fuel lines. The tractor seems to run ok with the pto unengaged.

Might need to operate in low range and also there are two fuel filters. Hope this helps.

My manual only shows one filter. Do you know where they are?

Some 25's have a filter in the bowl just before the injector and a in-line filter at the the tank.

I'd also check any sediment bowls and the tank fuel tap.. crud likes to collect on the screen.. and the screen likes to disolve.. letting crub into the valve, diminishing flow.. fuel starvation is a major cause of not being able to maintain a load you normally can.

What is the size of the bushhog? I assume that it is most likely a 4 footer. If you determine that your problem is not performance related, you may need to lower the tail wheel some so It will not cut as short.

Welcome emorris. I have a Bush Hog SQ480 and raising the tail wheel (skyward) lowers the rear deck-thus cuts lower into the vegetation.
A common medium I use for simple mowing is to set the angle of the deck so the aft edge of the deck is slightly lower than the forward edge of the deck so that the forward deck angle allows the blades to first cut higher than the aft deck angle which helps eliminate some overall cutting pressure as you move through the field. The blades cutting at the rear deck will then cut at the operater's desired field height.
Sharp blades.
Serviced gear box.
Proper tractor PTO rpm.
Tractor speed/gearing. Less HP, lower gears.

Just to be on the safe side, check your cutter's gearbox to be sure it has oil. It's most likely not this, but it's worth the time it takes to make a quick check.

I have a TC24DA and use a 4' cutter without any problems. I however run mine opposite as you do with the front end down lower than the rear end. It seems to me that I read about that somewhere? Whatever I can run over I can cut without any problems no matter how thick or tall......in low range of course! Try re-adjusting and see what happens.

My 2615 Mahindra did the same thing. I was pulling a 5' brush hog though...I think its normal for a small hp tractor. Try re-adjusting the front of the bush hog down a bit like previously stated, I am sure that you will be fine with a minor adjustment. I notice that my CT335 will drop a few rps when I am in the thick stuff also. I believe it to be normal.
