I had been using my New Holland TC29 for several days with no starting problems. When I tried to start it one morning, after warming the glow plug the starter would not turn over. I could hear the relay click in the dash, however there was no solenoid or starter actuation. I pulled the starter and solenoid and had it checked at the dealer. The starter worked fine. I checked the fuses, checked the battery terminals and connections. I was planning to start to check all the safety interlock switches. Then I looked at the forum.
The afternoon before I had been pushing brush into piles and I drove across an area of standing corn stalks. When I checked the forum on TC29 starting issues, one of the members wrote that he had gone through an area of brush and cornstalks and found the high vegetation had separated a safety switch plug connection located on the lower part of transmission just ahead of the axel on the left side. When I checked that area I found the safety switch connection had been separated the afternoon before and the tractor still ran until I shut it off. I plugged the separated safety switch wiring back together and the tractor was back in business!! Thanks to the member who posted this issue with TC29’s when working in high vegetation.
