I've been causually looking for a TC29D or TC33D and came across a used 2001 TC29D. Were there any changes to this model between 2001 and 2003? Are there any know problems with the 2001 model? It has approx 160 hours on it and appears to be in like new condition. The lack of 4 horses doesn't seem to bother me too much - should it??

I enjoy TBN so much for the straight-forward answers! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Thanks in advance for information you can pass along.

Blackjack,

I have a TC29D 2001 model and have about 130 hours on it. I have had no problems what so ever with it other than the temperature sensor going bad on it. I also had some fuel problems but that is not the tractors fault. Other than that I love it and it handles the 72" MMM and the 7108 FEL with no problems at all. The difference in 4 horsepower is not a noticable thing but it is always nice to have.

As far as changes I don't think they really made too many when I think 2003 is the last year they will make the 29 series. At least that is what I was told.

Let us know how much they want for that tractor and we can help you decide if it is a good price or not.

OK, here's what I found out today.
2001 NH TC29D hydro with 175 hrs
NH 7308 FEL w/ 60" HD Bucket
NH 914A 72" MMM
Industrial Tires
The guy wants $18,500

It doesn't seem like a great deal, but not too bad. What do you guys (and gals) think?

I paid $400 more for used TC40D with loader at 34hours without a mower, but with 75% of the warranty left. Sounds kind of high to me.

Blackjack,

I got the same thing a year ago for a bit under 20K, 2001 model with 0 hours. Mine does have Super-steer and Sensi-Trac which is somewhere between a grand and 1500.00 option. I don't know if yours has Super-steer, if the one your looking at has Super-steer you getting an alright deal. If not I think he is a bit high and I would check around because there may be a brand new New Holland TC33D sitting out there that you can get a good deal on. New Holland does have a program if one of their tractos sit on the lot for more than six months there is some discounts. Just not so sure I would jump on this deal real fast.

Again the area has a lot to do with it so I would go out and check other New Holland dealers on new and then make your own comparison on the used one.

I forgot to mention that it does have SuperSteer. Since I'm not in a big hurry, I think I'll take your advice and keep looking. I'd kinda like a red one (DX) anyway! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for your advice!

Blackjack,

The Red one is the same as the Blue one except you can't get the Super-steer.

Now I know you will ask about Super-steer so I will give you my opinion on that also.

Super-steer is great for mowing and getting around trees. As far as FEL work it is good for getting in tight corners. But if you do a lot of heavy loader work the Super-steer is not so good. So if your doing mostly finish mowing then think about Super-steer, if not, don't spend the money on it.

The major change in Class II NH tractors for this year is the addition of an operator presence (seat) switch. The safety switch circuit is now similar if not identical to the class III tractors. Also, turn signals were added, using different lights mounted to the ROPS.
