TC29D Fuel Tank has trash in it

Does anyone have any ideas how to clean trash out of a TC29D fuel tank? Trash periodically causes the tractor to shut off for lack of fuel. I have to unhook the fuel line and blow it out to dislodge the trash, then bleed the system before starting. A real PITA. Always comes at the most inconvenient time.

Obviously removing the the tank would be the best option, but I'm sure you already know that.

Can you access the bottom discharge port and try to remove the hose and possibly use a small wire to push up through the discharge hole to help fish out the crud?

Once you get the junk out I suggest going to the Kubota forum and looking at the thread about the in tank filler- strainer. I listed the Kubota part number there and it will fit any size tank filler opening. About 12 bucks and I'm sure Messicks and Coleman has them in stock

That would go a long way to keep the trash outta your tank.

I don’t think that this tank has a drain plug on the bottom, it must be removed to be cleaned. But you’ll see it if it has on or not. You can also suck the tank out with a canister under a vacuum.

Nice thing about my saddle tanks are they both have drain fittings on the very bottom. I've never drained them as I'm careful when fueling them plus I have the filler strainers installed.

As careful as I try to be, the strainers still catch some junk and need cleaned every so often.

I've used a shop vac on diesel. Tape a piece of smaller pipe to your hose and get after it. It don't work good on gas so don't try it. Someone I know did. They were just cleaning the top of a Chevy truck gas tank off. Had to put a new roof on his shop. It was a big shop. He had dump trucks, dozers, track hoes.

That gas made a believer out of me. Which dad showed us boys about it when we were young. Burning brush piles back in the day when you could use gas and old tires. He showed us the dangers of a heavy atmosphere with fog. He got back about 30 ft and had a rag on a stick, with gas on it. Lit it and threw on the fire, it still almost got us too. Gas ain't the problem, it's the fumes.

Remove the tank and clean it..or at least drain it out of the supply hose and remove what you can. Typicaly the junk falls to the bottom so you dont need to vacuum/while the whole tank.
