Tc30 or Jd790

Soundguy,

You say it well, I too would never buy from someone who had the audacity to badmouth the competition...COMPARING is okay but stretching the facts to make your own product look better is NOT.

When I was out to by a dedicated mowing tractor, I looked at kubota, MasseyF, JD, and NH. JD and Kubota looked fine.. but were just astronomical in price.. Masseyf was lowest, and NH a bit above it. As soon as I hit the Mf site, I mentioned what size machines I had looked at, and that it was down to the model 'xx' blue one, and his 'xx' red one. He immediatly trashed the blue one. i thank him, and left.. Went back to the NH site. Ended up not getting the tc18 i was looking at, but instead a 1920 that had just been dealer re-built.. I love it.. nice tractor..

fctadam,

Welcome to TBN /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You ask some very good questions, my 2 cents is that they are both comparable machines, and as Frank stated, which one do you feel most comfortable in. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Good luck with you choice and keep us informed.

I would get a price on the JD990 as well. It's not that much more money but it seems to me a better fit for BH duty. Between those two it seems like the TC30 is the better deal, but I don't know how the hoes compare and thats a major portion of the price.

For me breakout force is important for the loader. I really don't think anyone should lift 750 lb's and drive around with the loader too high on any CUT. So the fact that JD lowered the spec here may be a safety feature rather than a negative.

I wanted to get a TC30 before I bought my 790; Couldn't get one cheaper here than the JD 790 in upstate NY.

Heck if it saves that much money, get it, so long as you feel good about the dealer and the company!

Please keep us informed!

If I were the manufacturer that had the lower spec'd unit.. that sure would be the angle I would try to put across on it...

fctadam,

As I have stated in other posts, I've kinda got a case
of green fever. However, in April 2003, I traded my
JD 790 for a JD4310 because the 790 just didn't have
enough force in the 3 point hitch. Other TBN'ers have
stated that you can shim the control valve to get more
force but I am sure that would void any warranty.
When I bought the 790 in April 1999, I wasn't planning
on moving logs around to my Woodmizer sawmill
that I bought in March 2002. One year of trying to
move logs with a 790 and I decided it was time to trade up.
My original purpose for the 790 was driveway maintenance
and the 59 inch FM snowblower. The 4310 allowed me
to retain my snowblower investment. Having a Deere dealer
real close is a nice benefit although. The suggestion
of looking at the 990 is a real good one. A lot more
tractor, 2.0 liter 4 cylinder instead of 1.5 liter 3 cylinder,
for just a little more money.
