By the way, thanks for all the replies. You guys seem to know quite a bit about these blue machines.

Another potential issue I see with this tractor is that when the loader is in the dump position, the two cylinder rods that control the rotation of the bucket actually hit two tabs on the loader frame and flex. I do not see alot of bending, but they definitly hit and deflect a small amount. Is there an adjustment for this I should look at?

Thanks again guys.

gravity will do it. You want to refill line from injector pump to fuel filter that drained when removing filter. It will take you 20 minutes to remove filter bowl, clean it and replace with new filter. If you still have a problem; then call dealer to service it.

The dealer just picked up the tractor. They looked at it and said the loader cylinders should not be hitting the loader frame, and that they needed to cut off the stop tabs and re-weld them higher on the frame. He stated that the tractor started and seemed to run fine, but I told him I wanted someone to run it for a period of time to see if the power is lost after operation. Hopefully I will have it back by the weekend so I can play with it some more.

Hopefully they will fix your problem. If they give you some noise about they couldn't find a problem be sure to demonstrate the condition for them next time. Hook up the mower and show them what happens. If they are a good shop they will hook the tractor to a dynamometer or other load to recreate the conditions that caused the trouble.

Just got a call from the dealer. They said that the fuel filter is extremely gummed up, and the entire fuel system needs to be drained. They claim it is my fault because it appears that I have added home heating fuel to the tank rather than diesel. What they do not understand is that it was running poorly prior to me adding any fuel. The reason I added fuel was due to the way it was running. After I added the fuel (which was diesel from a local gas station, not fuel oil), I ran it down my driveway and back (about 200 feet). They have not told me how much it is going to cost me, but I do not feel I should pay a dime for it. It was the fuel they delivered in the tractor that caused it to run poorly. How is that the operator's fault? Does anyone agree with me, or am not not seeing their side correctly?

They also mentioned that the wrong plate was on my loader, which is why the cylnders hit the frame and would bend at full dump position.

I guess we'll see the character of your dealer - honor or no-honor.

I would explain to him that I put diesel in it, and NOT heating fuel. And, I wouldn't pay him a dime for repair work. If he is worth his salt for what you paid for that tractor he will fix it for free. If that doesn't work get in touch with NH.

I stopped there last night and viewed the filter. I (being new to tractors) have never seen any filter this dirty. There was so much sludge, it looked like it came out of a tractor with 1000 hours on it rather than 10 hours. They are pretty confidant that it is not their fuel, and wanted to charge me the for the repair. I explained, again, the sequence of events. Finally they told me that they were going to charge me for the price of the filter ($10). I had bought one on Monday, so I gave that to them, and they said I was paid up. The impression I got is that they do not believe me, and think I either mixed gasoline or some extremely dirty fuel in which caused the problem. They told me that the place I bought my fuel from can not be trusted, and recommended another store. I checked my fuel contained last night and the small amount of remaining fuel is perfectly clean, no sludge or setiment at all.

Hopefully this solves the problem and I become happy with this blue machine. Thanks for the help and advice.

I am an average backyard mechanic (repair my own vehicles, and completed a frame off restoration on a Corvette) but I have never worked on a diesel.

Welcome to the TBN site Shark, glad you got your problem worked out. There are a lot of very knowledgeable folks here to help you should you ever have another problem with your New Holland. And before long you'll be a diesel expert yourself. Enjoy your new ride.

I ran into this same problem a while back. I always keep a spare fuel filter on hand. Don't be surprised if it acts up again as I am sure there is still "junk" in fuel tank. When it happens again, just change the filter. I would suggest you add a conditioner to each tankful from now on.
