TC33D Glow Plug Issue

I have an intermittent glow plug problem on my 2003 TC33D. When I try and start it I sometimes the glow plug light comes on and then goes right back off in about a second. Customarily it stays on for about 5 seconds then I start the tractor. There are other times that I light doesn't come on at all. I go back later and it works.

In the scenario where the glow plug light comes on and goes off quickly, the tractor will start but much harder. And once in awhile the light will come on for a second or two after it is running.

So, I asked my dealer ( of course it is off warranty ) he said they had an issue with the connections on that model and for me to check that. Not being an electrician, I removed the cover and got to the ignition switch. Did not see anything unusual, I unplug the connector and looked at the connections and they seemed fine.

I put it back together and the same situation exists. Still an intermittent issue.

Anyone have this problem before? If so, what was the fix?

My guess is that the loose connection point that they were talking about is at the glo-plug timer and other associated relays not the ignition switch.

Bob I can only tell you that on a Class III machine the relays and timer are behind the lower cowel panels that your legs bang up against while driving the rig (below the instrument panel). There are 2 bolts on each side, & two in the cowl that need to be removed to remove and split the cowl. I'm not sure if your machine has the relays located in the same position but that's where I would start looking.
