Removing it for repair is of course your choice. I think most people would simply remove the rod end from the anchor pin, remove the gland nut and then pull the guts out leaving the barrel in place. I know I would go that route if at all possible.

It looks like the mounting lug on the end of the rod would prevent seal replacement without total disassembly. It looks like a snap ring is used instead a gland nut too.
