NH TC 33D Ford 1120
Received my 33D a few weeks ago. Battery already replaced under warranty - hopefuly I can recover my hood latch with some liquid wrench and won't have to make a further warranty claim.

Having owned tractors for over 20 years, I know its only a matter of time before something breaks, and I want to make sure I have the right tools. I have a complete set of 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4" drive Craftsman sockets, and an set of wrenches through 1 1/4". Problem is that most everything is in inches, and I'm suspecting that I'm going to need either a parallel set of sockets and/or wreches in metric. So, as I'm willing to upgrade my tools, can any of you more experienced TC owners tell me what I'm going to need? A 1/4" drive set of sockets? 3/4"? Or can most stuff be tackled with adjustable wrenches? I have a habit of breaking stuff when the stores are closed.

For regular maintenance, I bought a "complete" tool kit from Costco for about $30. It is in a cheesy plastic case about 14"x14"x3" and fits nicely stuffed behind my seat. It has screwdrivers, small and medium sockets, combination and allen wrenches, pliers, etc. With two more adjustable wrenches and a strapwrench for filters in the other toolbox, I can tackle just about any issues I have with the tractor. Oh yeah, it has both metric and SAE tools. I have noticed both metric and SAE fasteners on the tractor AND implements.

Getting rid of an old Ford 5000 with cruisomatic ten speed slush box, I became an expert at stopping at certain areas and using unique stones/rocks, to continue forward motion. in one of ten gears. I'd be happy to walk your property and point out unique and useable stones/rocks and possibly old tree limbs, etc for future tool use:))

I'd say you want a set of 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2" drive metric sockets. If I had to skimp, I'd skip the 1/4" drive set. I can't think of anything that requires 3/4" drive - except for changing a rotary cutter blade, but those are usually inch.

Also one of the cheaper metric combination wrench sets - 9 or 11 pcs. You don't need the 15 pc deluxe set. Again, not much big hardware on these tractors.

I think sears is having a craftsman club special soon - just got a flyer in the mail yesterday.

****, Larry, I already have a complete set of rocks, and didn't have to buy a one. Got more that are just about ripe - should be ready next spring - they're about the size of cantaloupes now, and should be as big as watermelons after the winter. Some of my pepples had a tough growing season, only got to apple size this year, but should progress nicely in my fields next year. Speaking of the Ford 5000, did I ever tell you about the day I went over a bump with my 1968 5000 with an overfull bucket and snapped the front axle, which is integral with the oilpan? Took Sandy Herrick and about 50 pounds of steel to fix that one. And I thought that tractor was too heavy to break. Guess there is no such thing.
