I've had a TC33DA hydro superstear demo unit with loader and bushog for a week or so. Done a lot with it and like it a lot. One thing bothers me though. When stopped, it's often hard to change the range from neutral to I, II,or III, or vice versa. Sometimes the range lever will go to range I or II, but refuses to go to III, or some other combination. Is this normal? Any advice on how to work around it?

My TC33DA has the same issue. I think the problem is that the gears aren't always lined up just right to slip into place, or so it seems. My 'fix' is to either let the tractor roll just a little or let the clutch out and tap the hydro pedal, push the clutch back in and then it will slide right into gear.

Yep, Harry, like Jim said, that's normal. You can actually slip it into one of those ranges without even using the clutch if, when it doesn't slip in easily, just barely touch the hydro pedal just enough to move the gears in there slightly. Don't step down on the hydro pedal and try to shift with the gears really spinning though or you'll be grinding the gears.

First, welcome to TBN. You will find a gold mine of information here. My 33DA does the exact same thing. As already stated, a slight bump to the hydro pedal will do the trick. Bird, I just found out this past weekend that I do not need to use the clutch to shift ranges, or even to shift to 4WD. Actually seems to shift easier NOT using the clutch. Of course, the tractor must be stopped when doing this /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. However, the owners manual does recommend using the clutch pedal when shifting ranges or engaging 4WD /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. xthulu, sounds like you have a great dealer to give you a demo for that long. Best of luck.

My Older TC33d use to do the same thing, as others have said, give the go pedal a little touch and then shift.

The big one (class III) have to do the "pedal bump" too for range shifting.

Where in NoVa are you?

Thanks for the help everyone! I decided to buy the machine, and it's off at the shop now getting a QA bucket fitted.

Mark - I'm near Berryville (just west of Winchester VA). Are you near by?
