Well gang, I Bought a house in Sept 04 on 10 acres, that wasn't finished, landscape included.

Now that i'm done with the house part (yeah right!), I'm heading over to the NH dealer in a couple days I'm going to do it! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Picking up a new TC33DA with NH loader & R4 tires, with the following Woods implements: GT60 Box Blade, GT60 Tiller, and RD7200 Finish mower.

I rented a couple Kubota's last year for brush hogging and digging before winter, and after reading up on most brands, NH was the one for me. I priced the whole 'package' from the 5 dealers in my area and all basically 'wash out' the same.

Any issues with my implement choices for this 33? There will be about 4-5 acres of grass to mow, and keeping up a trail thru the back 5 acres of the property which is partially wooded (trail already cut). The soil is clay and is quite hard packed when dry.

Obviously, i'll be working out the operation of all, but the box blade will get a lot of use as i'll need to do quite a bit of grading to level out the back yard. Dealer said the box blade would be best instead of regular blade on that hard packed clay. WIll probably take me a while to master that baby i'm sure.

Thanks all.

Looks to me like you bought all the right stuff. Congrates on your new rig and welcome to TBN. If you get time go in and fill out your profile as to where abouts you live. And also pics are a must of your new rig.

Congrats on the new rig! I have had my new TC33DA HST for 2 weeks and have put 22 hours on it now and absolutely love it! It has done everything that I had hoped it would do easily, ie. bush hogging, finish mowing, FEL work and rear blade! Good choice! Post us pictures when you get it!

CRC,
I'm making the same type of choice you just did--between Kubota and New Holland. Could you tell us why you choose the NH over the Kubota? I never hear anything but positive comments about Orange's reliability and durability but occasionally I hear about problems with NH--at least from three acquaintances who have them. I love the size of the TC33DA, but I am having trouble getting past the quality issue. I am leaning toward the L3130, but tell us what influenced your choice of Blue.

Thanks all, I am quite excited for this. Will definitively use this baby to it's fullest in the next couple years (and lifetime i'm sure).

As for why I when with blue. I had narrowed the field between Kubota, NH, John Deere. After pricing the JD's, that option went out the window...
Kubota dealer is actually closer to me, so that would have been the logical choice (for service, etc). I rented 2 from them last year, first was a 21HP B7510 for brush hogging. Kinda've a small tractor for the job...stalled quite a few times, but did ok. After I was done, i noted a part on the 3 pt hitch got (or was) bent where the brush hog attached to it, and it ended up rubbing on the right tire. Pin was still there, they probably should have set that up on a bigger model maybe. There was a lot of 'weed fuzz' flying around too, and almost every 5-10 minutes, i had to stop, pop the hood open, pull out the screen in front of the radiator to clean it from the fuzz, back to work, etc. The NH doesn't have that removable screen, as its front end is 'sealed' so those screens are part of the front end, no need to pop the hood. We'll see how that works.

Next was the L48 with a back hoe for digging couple trenches. This one worked quite well, and had fun on it! Little larger than what i'd be needing permanently though.

So since I was looking in the 30-35 HP range, what i've read seemed to be the NH as the better value. Prices are similar between the 2, so to me based on the NH set up, PTO HP rating, hydraulics capacity, and operator 'comfort' (pedal & handle locations, etc), NH seemed the better value. As these all have Japanese motors now anyhow, reliability is probably similar with all, but I agree I've heard good things about Kubota engines. The NH / Ford's been around for a while also, this was another factor for me (plus i'm a Ford guy anyhow! haha) Front end and loader combo look cool too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll post some pics once I get this baby delivered!

I got the NH TC33DA, too. But it seems to me the big 3 tractors (NH, JD, K) are so similar that for many people it makes sense to shop based on the dealership more than the brand. I'd been going to the same NH dealer for years to service my old Ford, so that's where I shopped to buy new. My new tractor is great! But our next door neighbor has a Kubota to do pretty much the same jobs.

Did it today....put my baby on order (over the phone)
here's what's coming, with prices:

TC33DA w/14LA FEL / R4 tires = $19,200
Woods RD7200 Finish Mower = $2,025
Woods HB84 Box Blade = $850
Woods GT60 Tiller = $1925
Total (w/o tax) = $24,000

I have to check when I go there on Saturday about the HB84 box blade, as the Woods Catalog shows tractor HP 'should be' 40-55 HP.... it seems the GB72 would be better..but then dealer knows best (and i'm still quite green on tractor talk!)

Unfortunatly, the main part (the tractor) isn't there! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Dealer does have one with SuperSteer, but he didn't feel like letting that one go for the 'standard front axle' price (i tried!) So i'll wait, and will post pics once i got it all.

I would say trust your instincts and don't put an 84" box blade on a TC33! I have a 72 on a TC35 and really would not want anything wider. I would say definitely go as wide as the tire tracks, but much wider than that would only bog you down and be awkward to maneuver. There is some wisdom in having matching front loader bucket and box blade widths, both just wider than the rear tire width. For a (non box) rear blade that can be angled, 84" might make better sense since you would want to cover the tracks while angled.

Topshop,
What kind of quality issues have your friends been having with the NH brand. I have had my TCDA for 3 years without a single issue.

thanks
