Well... I really don't know what's going on here. My TC34DA is only 2 weeks old or so... I was doing a little loader work this evening and I noticed that when moving forward the safety beep would go on, almost like I didn't pull the parking brake when stopping the tractor. So... I look under the seat, to check the wires and everything seems to be okay. I plug and unplug, to make sure and check for any pinched wires, didn't find any. So, I then started her back up and proceeded to work. About 45 seconds later the beep went off again and cut the engine (almost) I did a little hop up and down on the seat and the alarm went off.

Few things: Has anyone else had this issue? Was it a bad safety switch? Can the switch be disabled or "jumpered" so that I can find out if it is bad? Am I not fat enough to trip the switch? (I weight 165LBS.) It's pretty annoying, let me tell ya... I plan on calling my dealer tomorrow to see what he thinks and I really need to get some work done this weekend so, I hope to have this little issue solved by then. I can understand from a safety stand point why the switch is there, but if it causes things like this to happen it's pretty useless and annoying... ohs well... Any ideas my friends? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Well, I'm kinda new here too. Welcome to the site! The switch behind the seat can be removed and jumped to see if that is the problem. It will stay running all the time. Even if you get off the seat. This is a safety device, so I'm not reccomending leaving it that way. ;)

Michigander,

Hmm... Is there any way that you can describe how to do it. I completely understand that it's a safety measue, but I just want to see what's going on. I plan on hooking the thing back up and I also am going to call my dealer. I really think that there is something wrong with the switch. So any help with "jumping" the switch would be great. Thanks again! :)

Jumping the switch means to connect the wires together by some means

Maxfior, Unplug the wire from the switch. It has a locking tab on it that needs to be bent back. Take a wire and bend it in a "U" and connect the two terminals. Then do your test and see if it runs better. Hope this helps!:D

michigander II,

Thanks bub! I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'm just interested in seeing if it really is the switch that's messed up. I'm still going to give my dealer a call, to see what he thinks. How did you find out about this? Did you have to jumper your safety switch too? Also, when you mean to connect the two terminals, should they be the inside pair or out side ones... the plug looks like this:

=---
=--- jump this one
=--- and this one?
=---

Maybe I should just take a little picture and maybe make a little "how-to" article... since this might come in handy for some people... I'll post some pictures of the switch in a few minutes. Thanks again for all your help! BTW, where in Michigan are you? Close to the Ohio line, Toledo? :)

I have a TC40D and only have the seat switch with two terminals. I would only jump the two your using and try that first. I am between Saginaw and Flint. Frankenmuth, if you have heard of it. A lot of people know this town because of the "Chicken" dinners and the "Bronner" christmas store.

mmmm chicken... is it that good around there? I'll have to give it a try. Yeah, I think I heard of the Bronner store, that is the place that is all christman 24x7x365 :) Any way, here are some pictures so you can get a better look. I'll jump them two at a time. I don't think that it'll hurt anything, but I might run it past my dealer just incase. I still think the switch might be faulty. It's weird.... Thanks again for all your help. Does my switch look the same as your TC40D? I imagine that NH uses the same junk on pretty much everything...

Maxfior,,,, That is one good camera! Clear pictures. If your switch is only using the middle terminals. Then give that a try. I dont think either that you will hurt anything. Is your tractor a newer one? Mine is a 2003 and the switch is mounted on back edge of frame of seat. Not in the seat like yours. Hope you figure it out. Dealer should make it good too. Check your email!:)

michigander II,

You know, sometimes I HATE my Sony camera, but for some odd reason it actually did a half way decent job... My tractor is an 06... But yeah, I agree I'll try the middle terminals, maybe tomorrow, getting sleepy... ;) I'll keep you posted with what I find. I pretty much am crazy with documentation stuff... so I hope this will help other people out if they ever run into this issue. I think us New Holland guys/gals need some more stickies about doing things to our tractors. Thanks again for all your help! :)
