Or, for me, the nearest dealer is 150 miles away.

Whenever I need a belt, I either take the belt with me (or whats left of it), or I measure it.

V-belts (which I assume yours is) is not rocket science. There are typically two common #'s asociated with every belt. A letter and number like A38, and a nother # like 4V400. In this case, an A38 and 4V400 are the same.

The letter designation is the inside circumfrence of the belt. An A38 is 38" around the inside. The 4v400, nock a zero off and that is the outside cir. which is 40". A and 4V represent the width, which are the same @ 1/2" and ther is a 2" difference between inside and outside circumfrence.

5V is the same as "B" belts. Which are 5/8" thick. on the 3v, 4v, 5v style of numbering, the number refers to 1/8's of an inch thick. 4/8= 1/2" belt. 5/8= 5/8" belt, etc. There is pleanty of info online.

If you buy belts by size instead of application, there is no confusion on their part. If you need a 60" inside circumfrence belt 1/2" wide and order and A60 belt, it will work.

ditto that. it's no real money savings to buy my filters from napa vs NH. ok.. on the old ones with spin ons.. hard to beet a fl1a for 3.99 from walmart.. but for the others.. NH is cheaper in most cases. Also ditto on the hours. my napa is 15 minutes from me.. my NH dealer is 45 MILES from me.. and closes the same time I get off my day job :)

I've had spotty luck with getting AG parts at any auto chain store. my local car quest is ok on some belts.. but not on gaskets. napa has gottem me a carb kit and a few other select parts.. points and whatnot.. but nothing major.. just usually 'emergency' stuff like jinman points out.

I have to agree. Sometimes a single trip to the NH dealer ensures the right part and is cheaper than multiple trips to NAPA; especially for part replacement instead of a consumable like filters/oil/grease. I just researched filters and prices for my NH LB75.B and found that the filters from the NH dealer are cheaper than from 3rd party vendors selling Wix filters. I won't even bother looking anywhere else unless it's an emergency.

EDIT: The one problem I have with the NH dealer is hours of operation. It sure is convenient to find a NAPA, TSC, or other store open in the evening or weekends when the dealership is closed up tight. With planning, this can be overcome, but this website is populated with a lot of folks who only get to use their tractors on weekends when the dealerships are closed. It can be a problem.
